My daughter plays beach volleyball under hydro lines. Am I able to stand under them? I've read that I can't go near magnetic fields. Does this count?

Power Lines

Overhead power lines are not going to interfere with a pacemaker unless you get the pacemaker within a couple of feet the line. As for the generators Tracey mentioned, there are few of them that will interfere. The very large ones like in electric power generating plants may if you got with 15 to 20 feet of one. As for the generator like on your car it is not going to be a problem so long as your pacemaker is at least a couple of inches away. You need to stay at least a couple of feet from the generator on an electric welder.
In reality there are few electronic items that will interfere with our pacemakers. Tracey described how it would feel if you were to get to close to something you shouldn't and what you should do so there would be no harm to the pacemaker or you.

If you get close enough to have the power lines interfere you are about to have worse problems. That's getting close enough that a spark could jump to you in which case you are toast (whole wheat). LOL

Being near the lines is not close enough to do any harm. If you feel funny, back away, but I doubt you will. Worst case, if the field is strong enough it will put the pm into the same mode as when they test it. If this happens, you'll be safe but will feel funny. As soon as you get away from it,it goes back to full function with no harm done. We need to avoid generators, the lines are ok.
