Sharp pain after 1 week of pacemaker implant

Hello all, It’s my first time here at the Forum.

I just have may implant last 10/19/18 and about to see the Dr today. Does anyone have this sharp/ shock pain around left chest that last for a few second and is this normal?

What are the things I need to find out and ask the Dr?

it makes me feel so anxious that i took Ativan to relieve my anxiety.

any comment/ experience shared is deeply appreciated

Pacemaker surgery last week

I'm 48m and had a complete av block stemming from a heart attack I had 2 months ago. I'm one week out from the implant. I've never been part of an online support group and thought I should give it a try.

I'm having a hard time coming to grips with the heart attack and now with the pacer. I have been fairly active but now can't seem to get out of bed and am constantly checking my HR to be sure the pacer is working.

Rate Drop Response

Hi Everyone;

I'm three'ish' months post op now and there is improvement in day to day life but I'm still having what i call mini pass outs. I was warned that if it was a 'true' vasovagal syncope issue that the pacemaker may not rectify everything so I get that. There is a feature on the pacemaker that is called a 'rate drop response' feature and was wondering if any of you had experience in that area and if so, did it help you. I'm headed to the big c...

CHF

I have been pacemaker dependent for over 40 years and this year it was discovered I was in CHF and a CRT-P was implanted on July 30th.  Since the implant, thankfully I am no worse and can actually breath better at resting, but my heart is still struggling and having what I call- throwing temper tantrums mainly at night.

I have a problem with the very least amount of caffeine whether iced/hot tea, coffee, or chocolate consumed.  Do you all experience the same? A cup or glass wo...

New Implanted Loop Recorder rather than PM

Hello groovey PM friends.   I was diagnosed with 2nd Degree AV block Morbitz I in AUG this year.  Was initially advised that I would need a PM because I was symptomatic. ( recent syncope which left a nasty bruise and cut on my face.) I got a second opinion and have ended up with an Implanted Loop Recorder yesterday.

It was impanted in the center of my chest between my clevage.  Feels very strange.  Bruised and sore to touch.  I cant sleep on my side as th...

Should we have another baby post pacemaker surgery?

First of all thank you to everyone who responded to my last post. I wish the site allowed us to like, as well as respond to replies. Again I'm a 39 year old with third degree AV block, my pacemaker surgery was on 9/17/2018.

My wife and I have been trying to have another baby for close to 3 years now. During our last check up our doctor told us our best option would be IVF which would be very expensive and still not guaranteed. Due to the cost alone we have been hesitant t...

Exhaustion

Hello All,

I have been reading your posts on exhaustion or fatigue. My pacemaker was put in April 2018. I didn't feel up to par until about July of 2018. I have had it tweaked slightly as I was still experiencing some lightheadedness (which was happening before my pacemaker).

I am 49 and still very active. I own a dog walking compnay and two dogs of my own. So I am usually out walking from 10:30am to 4:30 pm. The average is 6-9 miles per day. yes, in the MN cold now, it can be...

Depression

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I got my PM 10/01/2018 so today makes my 1 week. I am 31 years old. I was diagnosed with symptomatic bradycardia and it seemed like everything moved so fast. A few months ago I was enjoying my summer and all of a sudden I was passing out in the e.r. Adjusting and accepting this new life has been hard for me and it just barely started. I do some modeling, I'm used to getting overdressed and doing things with my friends and now I just feel ugly. Everyt...

My Story ...living with a Pacer for nearly 54 years.

Hello There,

After posting up a message a few days back I thought I would post up a bit of my story and hopefully I hope it can help some of you.

I was born in 1956 by caesarin to a mum who was 43 years old.  She had many complications getting pregnant and finally fell while going in to menopause.  Doctors had picked up on my heart condition while listening to my heartbeat with one of those little horn things they used years ago.

In my mothers words I...

Restitutions/ limitations with a pacemaker

Hello everyone,

Does anyone run into any limitations/restrictions with having a pacemaker? My electrophysiologist and my Medtronic owners manaual mention avoiding strong electric or magnetic fields, such as large electrical generators and radiofrequency. Also to avoid full contact activities— taking hits or falling can dislodge pacemaker or shift the wires in the heart.

I’ve had mine for over a yr now with no issues but am in the Arm...

How have others felt post surgery?

I’m confused, am I Neo From the Matrix?

Im a 39 year old that’s 3 weeks post pacemaker implant. Recently I have been on this Life Is Too Short (YOLO) mentality. Spending money, pushing the honesty boundary with friends and family, and creating a very aggressive bucket list. After all when we die does it really matter what our 401k balance is?

This this is the the first time I have faced the reality, that we, truly don’t have control of when we leave this ea...

How long have you had your pacer!

Ok. Apologies if you have seen this before but I couldn't find my email when I checked for any replies ( if any)

Just curious to see how long people have had their pacers. I'm going into my 54th year.  Endless pacer changes and problems here and there.  However, I've managed to lead a normal life. I live in Sydney, have been married for 36 years and have 4 children. (All normal deliveries I might add)  I was 8 when I received my first and I'm 62 next...

More tired than before implant

Hi I had a pacemaker implanted 8/28/18 so it’s only been about 5 wks.  I went for a 15 min walk to get lunch today and I am pooped now. I have also started taking 25mg metoprolol at bedtime. Not sure if it’s associated w my tiredness. I am pacing 97% lower chambers and 14% upper. All new to me. I go in for my 6 wk check up next wk and the surgeon will b there to make adjustments if necessary. He said @ surgery if I don’t feel any better (more energy) @ my 6 wk check up...

What to expect post operative for PPM placement

Going in tomorrow for pacemaker placement. Curious what to might expect after the procedure. Would appreciate any comments in regards to recovery time, wound healing, any unusual sensations with device in place, frequency of pacemaker adjustments, activity restrictions, or any other thoughts. Thank you for any insight.

My body temperature

I received my pacemaker exactly 20 days ago.  Before then, I was always cold.  Now I can't get cool enough.   I flush just as if I'm going through menopause.  I get hot and sweaty, while my forehead still feels cool.  Has this happened to anyone else?

19 with a pacemaker

Hi everyone, sorry if this is long but I need to let this out.

I’m 19 and have a hard time accepting my 1,5 month old pacemaker. I’ve been passing out 1-2 times a year from when i was maybe 10 but every time I went to the doctor for it they said it was because of my low blood pressure and iron levels, which I believed because they where both true. I work as a waitress and last year I passed out at my work after working insane hours and barely sleeping for 13 days a...

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
