Exhaustion

Hello All,

I have been reading your posts on exhaustion or fatigue. My pacemaker was put in April 2018. I didn't feel up to par until about July of 2018. I have had it tweaked slightly as I was still experiencing some lightheadedness (which was happening before my pacemaker).

I am 49 and still very active. I own a dog walking compnay and two dogs of my own. So I am usually out walking from 10:30am to 4:30 pm. The average is 6-9 miles per day. yes, in the MN cold now, it can be brutal.

I was just seen by my cariologist and all is good. I have not been pacing much so that is great!

BUT, in the past month or so, I am so exhausted. I could be sleeping by 7pm until morning. Last night I slept for 11 hrs. And yes, I feel better this am, but it starts to hit me around 3-4pm that i can hardly keep my eyes open. I am not on any meds.

I just started working out in the gym again and yoga. For a while there I was scared my wires would pull out. But my Doc reassured me to get out there and live my normal life.

Do any of you also have extreme sensitiity to the inplant site? I can feel the wires and bra straps, tighter tank tops even, car seat belt - or touch even (neck rub which fingers may get close sends me flying. I am very very pain sensitve in that area. Does this ever go away?

Thank you for listening and I look foward to any suggestions/comments.

Becca

Becca, have you checked your blood glucose lately. Sounds like me when I let my BG get a little high. Just a thought.

Sensitivity

Certainly, I'm still sensitive to anything touching the scar, actually just to the left of it. I had mine implanted in February, so you aren't alone.

As far as being tired, what drugs are you on? Since you're not being paced much, I wouldn't be too quick to point at the pacemaker. There are all sorts of problems that can cause this. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms. He can run tests to isolate the problem or perhaps switch meds.

Hi Becca, wow I would love to be in your neighborhood so I could walk with you! :-).

Now, about the being so tired.  I too took some time to "get back into life" after my PM implant, I was 52 when I received my first PM.  I did ok for awhile. My ability to live life returned. However, I began to feel so tired again. I had the PM checks, blood work and everthing else checked. All looked fine. But... I was still so tired! So, I talked to my husband... I was crying trying to explain how tired I was. :-( he suggested that we sit together with the laptop and investigate each medication that I was taking AND THE SIDE EFFECTS OF EACH.  Wow! It did not take us long to figure out what was causing my tiredness.  Tim made a spreadsheet and noted each script. We talked to our dr. and he made some changes and I began to feel so much better.  Seems that sometimes a script works jsut fine... Then... Bam! Our bodies just can't handle it anymore and we have to switch to another to avoid the side effects.  It turns out it was my High Blood Pressure meds!

I don't know what if any meds you are on, but if you are you may want to review the side effects of each.

Sending you good vibes and wishing you a happy walking day!

Hello!

Thank you for the resonses!  I do appreciate it!

I am only on a thyroid and birth control med. No other meds for me. I am planning on setting appointment with my primary doctor to recheck my thryoid levels as that could be the issue and to make sure my blood work it good. I did have Vit D deficiency years ago, so I will have them recheck that also.

Now to layer up and head out to walk those fur babies! Brr! It's cold here today!

Thyroid?

by pacergirl - 2018-10-12 22:38:27

I'm Thyroid meds as well. I had "Graves Disease" at one one so I no longer have my thyroid.  I was taking the prescribed medication for a long period of time every morning. Over a long period of time, I started to feel really tired, no energy at all. I always had my blood work done in the mornings at the Dr. office!

Later, I was complaining that the heart meds make me feel so dizzy and tired and I didn't know what to do.... My husband suggested that I take my meds at night just before I went to bed. Ok, so now I take them at night... but I was still tired... until later when I was tested again and it was then that my Dr. found that my thyroid was way too low.  That was what was wrong!  My Thyroid med was too low!

You may consider what time you take your meds, as a way to find out more about your levels.

Crazy, but for me it was all about the timing!  Dr. increased my thyroid meds and in a few days I was more like my old self agian.

You know you're wired when...
