Sharp pain after 1 week of pacemaker implant

Hello all, It’s my first time here at the Forum.

I just have may implant last 10/19/18 and about to see the Dr today. Does anyone have this sharp/ shock pain around left chest that last for a few second and is this normal?

What are the things I need to find out and ask the Dr?

it makes me feel so anxious that i took Ativan to relieve my anxiety.

any comment/ experience shared is deeply appreciated

Sharp pain

Unfortunately I’m not sure but if you find out I’d love to know. I’ve had similar pains off and on for a week and a half now with no answers and the anxiety is terrible. At the end of the day today the cardiologist’s office called to say they need to see me Monday as they received a report from my machine that something had changed. Now I have to try to not have anxiety all weekend. I wish I knew what that meant. I keep telling myself that if it was bad they wouldn’t have me wait until Monday.

Let us know please...

Sorry I can't help but please post a follow up out here so that maybe it will help someone else in the future.   Good luck, I hope you both get your issues resolved.

Sharp pain - after dr’s visit

The Dr tried different settings on the pacemaker console trying to mimic the pain but unfortunately I didn’t feel it at all.

she also have no idea of what is causing that shocking/stabbing pain on my chest.

pacemaker is working fine though and most of the time she said its the upper chamber that is working most of the time.

what she did found out is a minor infection so she prescribed antibiotic for 1 week.

Next appt will be after 1 week. Keeping my fingers cross the medication will work so as not to go through again another procedure.

Follow up for me is that I ended up having to have lead revision surgery. I hope yours wasn’t that!

Sharp Pain

I had an issue of sharp stabbing pain and it turned out to need lead revision surgery.   I had a lead perforation with some bleeding causing fluid in the pericardium.  This required lead revision surgery as well.   The sharp pains were the indication.   I waited way too long before going back to surgeon for emergency surgery (1 week after original implant).   My pain was positional and was intense when I rolled my shoulders forward.   When I pulled them back the pain resolved.   I would take sharp stabbing pain as a serious issue.
