One Day Post Op

and still in the hospital. Went in to surgery at 1:15 yesterday and was back in my room at 3:30. It hurt when I took a deep breath so they gave me Tylenol.

The rate drop response was set too sensitive so that when I tried to sleep, my pacer kicked in and paced me at 100 bpm for two minutes. This caused extreme stabbing pain under my sternum. I got fentanal and oxycodone. This caused extreme nausea and I couldn't eat.

Pacer was adjusted this afternoon. I have been able to...

1St Follow Up Appt, What Questions Would You Ask

Had my PM placed in April, having my 1st follow up appointment in the next week.  What Questions Would You ask?  My rhythm specialist is a weird one, and tends to talk more about black market kidneys, etc.  Because of the condition I was in when they discovered I had an underlying heart condition.

Recovering from pacemaker surgery

I am now 4 days after pacemaker surgery.  I was wondering if any of you ever felt a twinge, no pain,  under left breast once in a while?  It doesn't hurt but I was just a little alarmed by it? My friend thinks I'm just healing and will feel many different sensations?  I've been very careful to follow instructions on what I can and cannot do post surgery.  Any thoughts?

Length of Stay

The scheduling nurse told me to plan on staying the night after my implant surgery but there is a slight possibility of going home the same day. The surgery is scheduled for 11 am.

How long was your hospital stay?

What are the chances I will go home the same day? If it helps, I am in Portland, Oregon.

Weird pinch

I am 4 days post op. Still low energy but the brain fog has lifted and feels amazing.  I'm getting weird twinges when I swallow food in the area between your breasts but lower in that little hollow.  Every time the food goes in, you can feel it travel down my esophagus and when it gets to that spot its like a weird pin poke feeling or something. Then gone again as soon as the food passes that spot. What the heck is that?  Also how long before I get my energy back? I could s...

Activities One Week After Implant

I am about one week from having my PM implanted. Worried about wires attached in my heart. Asked the nurse before I left the hospital that as long as I kept my left arm below shoulder height is it ok to run my riding lawn mower. She said that would not be an issue even with some rough spots in the yard. Worried about this causing problems with the leads. Any thoughts???

Side sleeping and ICD movement?

I had my ICD put in 1 month ago and so far so good I think. I'm a side sleeper and I cuddle pillows to keep my body stable and I don't roll too much. The week after I had it put in I woke up to the feeling of the pacemaker feeling extra odd and when i looked down I could see it had flipped on its side, I poked it back into place and it hasn't happened again. I know that eventually the scar tissue will grow around it and hold it in place but it still continues to move a little as I...

4 days post dual procedure

Hi all-- Considering I had back-to-back days of sedation and incisions to reattach the strayed lead from the first day, I'm feeling pretty good, "lucky" it happened while still in the hospital. I know I'll be seeing the nurse for the first post-op check in a few days, so have been preparing questions. The only thing I'm wondering about at the moment is this harder pounding heartbeat I have intermittently throughout the day, just gets distracting...
