Swollen ankles, very Tired

Had avnode ablation total pacemaker dependent since nov 2012,  had no problems until 3 months ago and now had a heart cath done in May 2017, no block arteries, Dr found that the pressure is very high and my pro bnp is very high. Dr has put me on rx of 80mg lasix plus toprol xl. Is this normal after 5 years of being total pacemaker dependent, my pacemaker has 2 years of battery life and all the numbers look good for the pacemaker,  By the end of my work day I am exhaused and mt feet are so swollen I can barley walk. Any Suggestion?? when I see that the  BNP numbers are high and it staes heart failure, I have to say a little over whelmed here.

You need to see your doctor. All the pacer does is make the heart beat faster. It has no control over how hard it beats, that is heart function. As Robin said, it could be that or kidneys or diet or something else. New swelling always needs to be addressed.

Thought... are you on amlodopine? That causes ankle swelling.

OVERWHELMED

I have heart failure. 3rd stage. Massive heart attack with loss of 40% of right ventricle due to STEMI.

A year ago I could not walk 30 feet without sitting down. At that time I was on the standard med rotation.  Still am.

Fast forward. During the past year I received a CRT-D (a special type of pacemaker). This thing has improved my life beyond belief. I now do almost severything that I did pre heart attack. The past weekend I climbed under my wifes H2 HUmmer and removed all her brake lines and abs and reinstalled them. True I could have paid someone to do it, but I had to know I could still do it.

Heart failure is not a death sentence. I went up to a 40" waist due to fluid retention I am now back down to a 36". No I do no t take diuretics.

PM me if you have any questions. There are options available to help get your life back.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
