I had my pacemaker (biventricular pacemaker defibulator) implanted on Monday and I was released home on Tuesday. In the hospital I was given percocet at 4pm Monday then again at 1am Tuesday. The nurse gave me another one right before I left at around noon.My cardiologist sent me home without any pain medication. When I asked him about it he said "you are young and tough.Just take tylenol" The doctor that discharged me was not the same one who did the implant. I have p...

Its been a year that a pacemaker with dual leads was implanted on my left side. From the very begening I am having a swelling just above the collar bone on the side of the pacemaker. I enquired from my doctor who said it will go away. But even after one year the swelling is still there . Any one having similar problem? Any suggestion from any one?

Hi all!!
I just had the icd/pm put in yesterday early morning. I can't believe how fast I got out of hospital. Well right now I am. little sore but feel very positive about this. Doctor said about 4 weeks before I can consider moving arm above shoulder. I am 52 years old and have had chf for 5 years now. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know how I am.

HI,
I am 44 years old and have been told by a cardioligist and a EP doctor that they feel a pm is what I need. I wore a 24 hour hm that read my hr is at 49 on the average. I then wore another monitor for 30 days and the average was 48.
I do have tired spells that come on quick. More like a foggy weird tired spell. Also get dizzy when I stand up quite often.
I also get a numbness feeling on the left side of my head which has been chec...

I have had my pacer for about 12 days now. I have had pain in the back of my neck, in the shoulder and some tingling and numbness down my arm. This is all on the same side as the pacer. None of the pain is excruciating and I have good movement. I am asking if this is quite typical or not. The sore shoulder doesn't worry me much but the tingling down my arm kinfd of concerns me. It's not my whole arm just the back side from about my elbow to my little finger.. Also is it the doctor who...

Tests show that I have blockage but I have no symptoms. What can I expect to experience after the implant?

Hello everyone. This is my first post on the forum. I'm 51 and I'm having a dual chamber pacemaker implanted in two weeks for bradycardia. My resting heart rate is in the high 30s.
I had new onset A-fib recently and was successfully cardioverted to sinus rythym (for now), although severely bradycardic.
I've also had open heart surgery to repair an aneurysym of my ascending aorta about a dozen years ago, so I'm no stranger to the hosp...

Hello group, I have a few things that I want to get off my chest. I got a PM due to the fact that I have blackout spells. If I stand up too fast, I’ll blackout. Every time my heart stops. I have been dealing with this for the past 15yrs. I’m always tired no matter how much sleep I get. All the Doctors seem to think I was lying. After blacking out it would take me about 20 or 30 minutes to get my senses back. No high blood pressure, no high chole...

Hello all,
Concerned about a few things. First of all, throwing so many questions into one post. (Just didn't want to post multiple messages in one go)
So backstory, I had an incident one night where I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest. I have a high blood pressure, decided to stop taking my meds on my own.
(Yeah, I know. Smart call.)
So after this incident, I couldn't sleep without being aware of my heart beating....

I am about to have my pacemaker replaced in September. I need to know what to expect. It will by my shoulder. Nervous doesn't seem to be the right word.

Thanks so much for your reply.
I only had the one burn, but it was the node so I'm being very good and taking it easy, had a better night last night so feeling less fragile today.
I think the last 3years have taken more out of me mentaly and physically than I've addmitted to myself, so the healing time will just take time.
Glad you are doing well, don't know about you but I find the whole pacing / ablation stuff fasinating, just wish it wasn't me lol!

I had surgery yesterday to reposition (aka revision) of pacemaker. It is under the muscle now instead of below skin. Not sure exactly where it is! Surgery went well. Electrophysiologist had done many of them and his team had complete confidence in him. Sure made me feel better. I'm in some pain and not sure what recovery will look like but no leads were changed so that will make a big difference! I'll keep you informed.

...After my AV node ablation, procedure went smoothly, the EP guy looked all af 20 lol, Last night however was awful. I new they set your lower limit a wee bit higher for a few weeks but they set mine at 90! and switch RR on so most of the time I felt like I was still getting the tachycardia.
Got the EP Dr back to see me earlier today and spent time re-adjusting everthing, lowe rate set at 70. So home now feeling knacked but a good night sleep will help, a lazy day tomorrow and then we...

Had my device inserted on Tuesday , came home yesterday, & survived my first night at home ! The site is very sore but I'm feeling pretty good ! I know it will get better each day , so I'm just trying to be patient !!
One question though, did anyone have any pinching by their ribs with certain movements ? I noticed it a few times when I was laying down in bed... Hoping I'm not pulling a lead or anything !
Thanks !!

It's been awhile since I last posted. I like the new look of the site! I got my pm September 13, and had some problems. I believe the cardiologist was inexperienced. I suffered nerve damage but also pm sits on a nerve. After a year my gynocologist (no one else would believe me about the pain) prescribed neurotin. It worked great, but I'm building up a tolerance and the device and the wires are very pronounced under my skin. Tomorrow I go in for a "repositioning" wh...

I have noticed a lot of posts about fatigue, and I am still feeling it too at about 6 weeks. Aside from stress and sleep issues, some of it might be metabolic. I found a lot of references about post-surgical insulin resistance a few months ago when reading about a different surgery that I was about to have. (Twice.)(Plus PM... Crazy year!) Anyway, the info is easy to find. Medscape and the Ntl Inst of Health have great articles at both lay person and health care professional levels....

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
