My first post. Looking forward to new pacemaker

Hello everyone. This is my first post on the forum. I'm 51 and I'm having a dual chamber pacemaker implanted in two weeks for bradycardia. My resting heart rate is in the high 30s.

I had new onset A-fib recently and was successfully cardioverted to sinus rythym (for now), although severely bradycardic.

I've also had open heart surgery to repair an aneurysym of my ascending aorta about a dozen years ago, so I'm no stranger to the hospital. I'm looking forward to getting my new PM as I hope it will alleviate my symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath and dizzyness.

I'll keep the forum updated on my status. It's been great reading all the posts about everyone's experiences with having a PM/ICD implanted and living with one.

Welcome to the club! I had my device inserted over 3 weeks ago and I think I'm doing great! The procedure itself was fairly easy, other than remembering some pain when they were putting the device in!  And I was sore for several days, but by day 7, I was feeling almost back to normal !  Dr keeps saying I will have more energy... I'm still waiting for that, but I am definitely less short of breath than before !!! I'll take any improvement I can get!

Good luck !!

Hi Cothg

My dual-chamber was implanted this time last year. I hope all goes well for you and I wish your family all the best!
