I wanted to wish everyone all the best in 2018. It's hard to believe that Pacemaker Club will is celebrating our 18th anniversary this month. We get much satisfaction from helping new and veteran recipients meet, support each other and share information.
Like many, I have some resolutions for 2018. I want to start eating and exercising better. My goal is to get back to following a Primal lifestyle. For those interested, visit marksdailyapple.com to learn more....

I had a dual chamber PM put in 3 months ago for a 2nd degree type 2 heart block. I am scheduled for a follow up with my cardiologist in a couple of weeks. We have a trip planned in March to Disney World. Does anyone know what the restrictions are for rides. I am gonna check with my doctor. I have no cardiac issues and am not on any cardiac meds. Just want to plan our trip accordingly
Thank you

So, I have a question... I am 60 and had my pacemaker implanted in 2014 for bradycardia. I would like to know if anyone has participated in an extreme activity such as riding in a 4 man bobsled? It's just something I'm thinking about doing. Kind of like when I rode a mechanical bull at 50. Thanks.

My back is going through a very ornery period. Sometimes I'm in so much pain, I can't walk. My doc has given me pain meds, muscles relaxers, anti-inflammation medication. Have been hearing a lot about TENS devices (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) and how helpful these devices are for things like back pain. So I ordered a device, and while reading the instructions, read it should only be used with pacemakers with my cardiologists' overseeing the settings. Since it'...

Hello all -
I had a pacemaker procedure about 20 days ago. My question is about my incision. First of all it’s not swollen, red, tender, or oozing. I do not have a fever and I do not feel icky. However, I noticed today that my skin is starting to peel around the incision area. Almost like a sunburn peel. The incision area was pretty taped up before I went home. I was told not to put any cream on the incision for 6 weeks. Should I be concern...

I all. Our daily newspaper posted a story about a local cardiology group that started implanting some kind of micro pacemaker from Medtronic in their patients. It cannot be extracted and only 4 can be implanted over a patient's lifetime. Has anybody else heard of this newly developed tiny pacemaker??
Thanks..

I had a short episode of NSVT. I have heard conflicting things about this scary episode. I want to know, if you have a pacemaker for SSS does that mean you don't have a structurally normal heart? I read that having NSVT in a "structurally normal heart" does not raise your risk more than anyone else. But, I have a pacemaker. Does that mean I don't have a structurally normal heart. Dr said my stress test was normal, echo was normal with 65 ejection fraction. So, he does...

Need some info if possible. My mom is 81 yrs, and has had a pacemaker for 10 yrs. Battery ran out, and she went in for a replacement surgery, pacemaker only..The new pacemaker site became infected, they removed the new pacemaker and leads. Now the infection is clearing up, there is a wound vac attached to the site. The doctors are saying that she may not need a pacemaker now. Has anyone ever heard of a situation like this before. All answers will be welcome. THANK YOU

Dear Members,
We are new to the forum and this is our first post. We are looking into the possibility of a dual chamber pacemaker to address crippling chronic fatigue/difficulty standing resulting from bilateral Sympathectomy surgery for hyperhidrosis (known as ETS for hand sweating).
Does anyone know anything about the application of a pacemaker for someone with a Sympathectomy? This surgery unwittingly capped maximum heart rate at...
Anyone else with congenital complete heart block

Hi everyone. I recently had my first pacemaker at 34. I was born with a congenital complete heart block which was due to my mother having lupus. Apparently a congenital CHB is rare so I'm hoping to find others that have this (1 in 22000 births). Most people get a pacemaker in childhood, however even with a slow heart rate 37-42bpm most of my life I have only just become symptomatic and in need of a PM. Extremely tired, dizzy, can't concentrate, weak can't do any exercise.

Hi All,
I am used to running with a HRM so I can measure my workouts however since joining the PM club my chest monitor no longer records correctly. I have also tried a wrist monitor but it is recording my heart rate at 190! I know I am fit but cannot cope with a 190 pulse rate.
Any recommendations on a HRM that works please?

Hi all! I have thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated this club ever since my dual lead St. Jude's PM was implanted last Feb. at age 69 due to CHB. My current issue is this. Due to my own heart now not picking up as it should, the rate response was recently turned on. Now this little device decides when I am moving and ups my HR.
Well, I play drums in a rock band. I know to keep my distance from the large speakers. But recently I had a problem du...

My mother is 90 and has a pacemaker which helps keep her heart from slowing, causing her to faint. She was once in the air force and we went to an air show where she wanted the pilot to take her up and do flips, air acrobatics, etc.
I and my sister walked up with her to the airplane (she is bent over) and I mentioned to the pilot about her pacemaker; ultimately, he wouldn't let her do the flips and turns due to that and the regulations - and now she's angry...

New to this forum. Nervous about upcoming lead extraction for 2 leads that have been in place for >20 years. I am 42 years old. Leads implanted in 1997. Anyone care to comment on their experience under similar circumstances? It seems like the right thing to do to have them removed, but the risks of the procedure are weighing heavy on the mind of this father of four.

I have talked with someone on this message board and would like to hear from others. I am suffering (since I had a revision done on the atrial leads - yes I have two leads now in the atrium) from such a high number of pvc's. They were documented on an event recorder so I know what they are. I feel every single one of them and have been told by my EP they are harmless. I know some have tried various diets as well as vitamins to lessen or put an end to these.
Does any...
