Pacemaker info.please

Need some info if possible. My mom is 81 yrs, and has had a pacemaker for 10 yrs. Battery ran out, and she went in for a replacement surgery, pacemaker only..The new pacemaker site became infected, they removed the new pacemaker and leads. Now the infection is clearing up, there is a wound vac attached to the site. The doctors are saying that she may not need a pacemaker now. Has anyone ever heard of a situation like this before. All answers will be welcome. THANK YOU

You want to ask a simple question...how did they justify a pacemaker to her insurance if it was not necessary....the infection sure as hell didn't cure her
