Hi All,
I am used to running with a HRM so I can measure my workouts however since joining the PM club my chest monitor no longer records correctly. I have also tried a wrist monitor but it is recording my heart rate at 190! I know I am fit but cannot cope with a 190 pulse rate.
Any recommendations on a HRM that works please?

try before you buy

They are notoriously inaccurate with us so ask to try them in the store. When the rate dislays too high, it's probably picking up pacing spikes as well as beats. Other times the pacer interferes and it doesn't read at all. I've never found one that works for me.
Another thing to keep in mind, we don't always follow the age/heart rate charts once we are paced, and especially if we are on meds, so target rates aren't always possible for us. I go by how I feel. If I have worked up a good sweat and feel good, if I can talk but not sing, I figure I'm good. Some days that's 140, other days it's 170.
You know you're wired when...
You can hear your heartbeat in your cell phone.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 220 paired with a Scosche arm band. Have worn several times in the cardiac lab w EKG and it is most accurate. I wear the Scosche right above my L elbow. It has 2 green lights and 1yellow. This set up is three years old and they may have a newer model, but this works great for me. Thanks to another PM Club member who recommended to me.
Merry Christmas and hope it works for you!
