Changes in my symtoms

Hi! I am new to this website & found it looking for an answer to a ? I had. But could not find the answer. I just passed my one yr anniversary of 2 heart surgeries in 3 days. I was in 3rd degree heart block so needed my atrial & mitral valve replaced. 3 days later my HR went to 27 so needed a dual chamber pacemaker. Supposed to be in & out in 10 days, but spent 7 weeks in there as I was allergic to the Coumadin. My recovery was long & painful & lost oxygen to my brain from the 6 hr surgery on my...

Feel worse after pacemaker.

Hello all.
I am feeling pretty anxious as 3 weeks after my dual chamber pacemaker was fitted I now feel considerbly worse.
I had complete heart block catagory 3 and the pacemaker was fitted as an emergency. I had 2 hours notice!
That took a bit of adjusting to once home, but for the first week felt better - apart from the expected soreness.
Healed nicely, no infection.
However now I feel much worse. On exercise (which includes walking on the flat, going upstairs to...

Who am I?

Lowell Matias is my name I'm a student at Hawaii Community College. I feel very different from everyone els that don't have medical issues. The fact that no one els but us understand how it is to go through such a thing. I'm only 18 and I've went through 4 open heart surgeries already. Currently I've had my pacemaker for 8 months and I honestly feel a lot better then before. Although now Its my fourth time going into atrial flutter. My cardiologist have been using electric conversions to make my...

CRT-D Movement

Hi. I had a CRT-D implant on 7/2/14 and then a lead revision and pocket modification on 8/15/14. Everything has healed up nicely but my CRT-D is not 'tacked' and moves around so much it is driving me crazy. If I try to sleep on my back it shifts almost sideways and creeps up by my collar bone. If I sleep on my left side it slides to the left and becomes very uncomfortable. My best option is to sleep on my right side and wedge a pillow under/over the CRT-D to keep it from shifting to the rig...

Laser Tag

Hello. I am new to the group. My son is just shy of 13 and has a Medtronic pacemaker. He would like to play laser tag with friends and his cardiologist said ok. Have any of you, or your kids, with a pacemaker ever played laser tag?

Wondering about disability

Wondering if any of my fellow pacers have gone on disability. I have been paced since 2001 getting ready for 3 rd pacer. I have been having problems with pvc pmt and extreme fatigue. I am still trying to work full time however I miss an average of 2 days a month due to symptoms. I'm wondering if it's time to stop working I am 45 years young. Just wondering if it's possible and what are the requirements.

Trying to not freak out - pulse readings

My rate response was turned off at my last interrogation and the rate was set at a flat 65. I am dependent on my pacemaker and have had it since October 2013. Four times in the last two weeks, my pulse has been taken and the readings were 59, 57, 52 and 59. How is this possible? Should I be concerned?

Thanks!

Ron

set off security alarm at Kohl's

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all are doing well. It's been quite some time since I last posted. I got my PM implanted about a year and half ago and even though I never thought I would get to this point ~ I have totally adjusted and have pretty much forgotten about it and never even give it a second thought anymore. Until yesterday. My husband and I were out shopping and the second we walked into the first store the security alarm went off. I didn't think much about it, but right away...

Copy of stress test

I recently had a nuclear stress test. I requested a copy of the test. What I got was their 3 page interpretation of the test.

I would like a copy to take to a different PE than the one that they work with.

Am I wrong in assuming that I should be given a copy as I requested?

Pacemaker seatbelt cover

Hey all,
It's been a while since I have posted. My son began driving and I am spending a lot of time in the passenger seat. My pacer is on the right and the seatbelt is really uncomfortable. I saw a post from 2011 about seatbelt covers, but wanted to know if the site recommended is still a viable solution or are their alternatives to alleviate the discomfort? Thanks!

Fluttering feeling in lower chest

Just got a dual lead pacemaker on July 27, 2015. Pretty recent so I expect to be sore for a while. What I didn't expect were the huge flutters in my lower chest. Anyone else experience this ? I am sure it's a normal part of the healing process but would appreciate any feedback from anyone else that has had this happen. Thanks!

Pacemaker installed yesterday.

Hello everyone.

I just came across your site this evening. I had a dual-lead pacemaker installed yesterday. I have been experiencing tachycardia for the past 8 months. I'm always tachycardic when awake and my pulse varies between 115 and 225.

After the cardiologist decided that I needed a pacemaker I only had 2 days until the surgery. As I'm looking up pacemaker information tonight I'm not finding anything that says a pacemaker helps with tachycardia.

I wore a...

Ups & Downs

I had my PM implanted on June 10. I'm generally doing okay, it seems that all the little weird things that I feel are similar to what others are feeling, so I'm thankful for this club. I do have one thing that I'm curious to know if any one else is experiencing: On days when my Rate Drop Response is especially active, I notice that I'm much more tired by the evening. Does anyone else have that same symptom?

Senate Bill S.31

My letter to the Austin American Statesman:

"I received a reply from Sen. Cornyn in regards to my inquiry concerning whether he supports or opposes S.31 (Medicare Price Negotiation Act of 2015). His reply was nothing
but political blather that blamed all ills on the current administration. He did not state his position on S.31 His inability to answer a simple yes or no question was not surprising
to me. I also wrote Sen. Cruz and I expect the same type of dance when (...
