Lowell Matias is my name I'm a student at Hawaii Community College. I feel very different from everyone els that don't have medical issues. The fact that no one els but us understand how it is to go through such a thing. I'm only 18 and I've went through 4 open heart surgeries already. Currently I've had my pacemaker for 8 months and I honestly feel a lot better then before. Although now Its my fourth time going into atrial flutter. My cardiologist have been using electric conversions to make my heart match with the normal beat basically meaning to restart my heart. The last 3 times have not been working and now I have to get it zipped out of my heart. I have no idea what that means, but I do know there will be an incision and they will go to my heart to "zipp" out the atrial flutter.I'm honestly scared and very tired of this medical issues. I live in Hawaii and I live on the island that does not have the best cardiologist ,so I have to fly to another island "Honolulu" to see them. Its rough cause I have to do it by myself and no one understands how hard it is to go through all of this alone at such a young age. Definitely gave me a better perspective on life such as that life is definitely something you cherish cause you never know when you will pass.

Catheter ablation

Hi!
I think what you mean is a "catheter ablation" to treat your atrial flutter. Please Google this term, there are lots of information about it online. It's a procedure very similar to a heart catheterization. For atrial flutter, it's THE way to go because it can cure you from this arrhythmia. I have had atrial flutter, too, had an ablation for it, and it has never occured again (had the ablation back in 2001).
The ablation really isn't a big deal; it's not a surgery, just a heart cath via catheters inserted through a vein in your left and right groin (that area is numbed before they go in). If you are very scared, they can give you something to sleep, like what you got when you had the cardioversions.
Good luck!
