Hi! I am new to this website & found it looking for an answer to a ? I had. But could not find the answer. I just passed my one yr anniversary of 2 heart surgeries in 3 days. I was in 3rd degree heart block so needed my atrial & mitral valve replaced. 3 days later my HR went to 27 so needed a dual chamber pacemaker. Supposed to be in & out in 10 days, but spent 7 weeks in there as I was allergic to the Coumadin. My recovery was long & painful & lost oxygen to my brain from the 6 hr surgery on my heart. I had a nervous breakdown & wanted to die. I'm much better emotionally now & my brain cells were not destroyed, but physically I'm not back. Still get depressed cuz I can't do what I used to & it breaks my heart. Used to ski, water & snow, exercise, camp, skydive...I can't do that anymore. So I still get depressed after 1 yr & I can't seem to overcome it. Is that normal to take this long? My pacemaker is under my peck muscle & the site still hurts sometimes. And lately for about 2 months, I can feel an electric surge where the leads are. Not constant but enough that I'm aware of it. Has anyone experienced that? It doesn't hurt, it's just a new symptom. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank u Cindi
