I went back and searched a few previous posts concerning short term memory loss. Went back as far as 2008, saw quite a few people claiming to have experienced this, but never saw a cause. Like most of the posters, I never passed out or lost consciousness. I do realize now that I had bradycardia for quite some time, at least two years before I received my PM. Before the implant, I had what some people refer to as a photographic memory, especially when it came to numbers and memory using mnemonic...

I have had my PM for 26 months and am getting a PM check every 6 months. When I was there yesterday I was told that the "pacing" has increased from 31% to 42% in the atrium and from 78% to 81% in the ventricles.
But why?
Will it be even worse next time?
Is my heart giving out?
Does it ever get paced less once it has been paced at such a high percentage?
I am stressed to think I am even more dependent the pacemaker.
The tech said I should exercise more...I did not se...

Hello I Had my first pm put in over 10 years ago. At that time it was pacing about 40% on the upper part of my heart & not at all on other. About a month ago at my check up I asked if I were pacing more now. He said "no". This time I said nothing & he brought it up.Said the upper heart was pacing 99% .the lower part at 80%.I was so shocked I couldn't speak before he left the room.I am 73 .Is this is normal?

I'll be receiving my BiV/ICD next month. I've been unable to find understandable/trustworthy info on the use of an induction range with the device. Does anyone have any recent information on the safety factors involved?
Thanks.

Thanks to the members on the forum who regularly chime in. While it doesn't always appear that way, I do listen to you and take what you say into consideration.
Reason for me bringing this up is I just had my 1 - 1/2 year PM checkup. Best ever and my PM said he didn't want to see me for a year. Not that he doesn't like me or anything.... Just doesn't need to see me. Much better than the every three months at first. Down times are fewer and further between.
I can't...

Radio frequency ablation on varicose veins. Has anyone had radio-frequency ablation done on their varicose vein in their legs?
I'm trying to find info on whether it causes issues with the pacemaker, and can't seem to find any. I've called the doctor's office, but am playing "beat the clock."
Thanks!

Hi all, just want to update all ICDs users on current status of this article that was in 2012: https://news.wustl.edu/news/Pages/24486.aspx
Which is talks about less shock therapy for ICD patients. I was able to connect with scientist from this company and he said that : trials are ongoing in Europe. The end date will depend on how fast patients are enrolled. But expect to complete them in the next 12 months or so.
I guess after that they will need to analyze the trials, write fina...

Hi everyone! I just turned 60 and am having a pacemaker installed in 12 days. Living by myself, you know how at night the mind has a tendancy to blow things out of proportion. I'm a nervous wreck about having the pacemaker installed. I know that I will feel better after the procedure, but since the procedure has to do with the heart, I'm really scared. Can anyone provide positive feedback?

Hi, I am a 37 year old female, just got my pacemaker about two weeks ago. I've begun noticing I get paced (like a hard jab to the very center of the chest) if I take a very deep breath, especially if I'm lying down. Is this normal, or is this something I should call the cardiologist about? I have a follow-up appointment in 3 weeks. Thanks for your help!

This may sound like a dumb question, but please bear with me. I was in ER a week ago with tightness and having a hard time breathing. Turns out it wasn't my heart. However, I mentioned that I had my pacemaker replaced on March 4 and she, the doctor asked me if they replaced the pacemaker or the batteries. I looked at her and said the pacemaker. Now I have had a pacemaker since November 1, 1972 and I have always had the pacemaker replaced. It is sealed and I have never heard of just the batterie...

My pacemaker (for sick sinus syndrome) is set at a minimum of 60 and during inactive times is on target. Am also on low dose beta blocker to prevent tachy rhythms. I have had it three weeks and feel really good but have reduced stamina and am sleeping significantly more than before. Also better quality sleep! How long have others found the increased need for sleep persists?
I have pulsatile tinnitus and several time a day, perhaps greater than a dozen, I hear dropped beats, confir...

Been some time from my last post. Still hanging in there.
Couple weeks ago, my transplant team wanted me back on dubutamine 24/7. Said fine, I need the boost. They had to put a new Hickman line in. OK, sure it's going to hurt a couple days, no problem. That will wash out once I get back on the dubutamine 24/7. So, they put it in. Next was that they wanted me to stay overnight in the hospital. OK, no problem. Then all at once, they come up with something out the blue that Medicare requ...

Hi folks...hope someone can help me with a query. I had my pacemaker implanted 1 year ago. It's a dual chamber meditronic. Since implantation I have had serious problems when using the laptop or iPad. They keep freezing or shutting down. If I walk away it works again. Is this a coincidence or has anyone else experienced this and if do, is there anything can be done to rectify it? It's mighty frustrating to say the least...thanks in advance for any feedback
