I am pacing at 100bpm. That is not what I was set at. I found out when I did routine phone ck. I called my Dr. He is out until July. The nurse told me I would be alright til then. Does anyone out there know this to be true. And I would be exhausting my generator more rapidly

Most of the postings lately have been so serious, I was getting depressed. I ran across this little story, and since a lot of us are "geezers" or are approaching Geezerhood, and we love to go on about our doctors, I though this might lighten the mood a bit.
An old geezer, who had been a retired farmer for a long time, became very bored and decided to open a medical clinic. He put a sign up outside that said: Dr. Geezer's clinic. "Get your treatment for $500, if not cured get back $1,0...

Just wondering if there is any link between keeping cell phones in the shirt pocket i.e right on top of the heart and the heart rhythm issues ?? Does anyone know any research done on this correlation?
Thanks

Most Docs I've spoken with have stated a person's ejection fraction cannot be improved ------ one can only help save what they have left. A recent magazine issue had (can't recall the name) an article where the author was going down the same heart failure path as his dad. He decided to walk, walk, and walk some more to combat his heart issue. After a number of months, his cardiologist was amazed that he increased his EF from 18% to 40% -- a feat the doc considered impossible beforehand. (BTW:...

I have a question for those of you who have had a similar experience. I have been diagnosed with Neurocardiogenic Syncope through the tilt table test. I flatlined for 15 seconds during the test (1st part with no meds after only a few minutes). The doctor who administered the test and another electrophysiologist I later consulted with said I don't necessarily need a pacemaker. After researching and reading posts on this and other sites I'm not sure what to believe. Any information would be g...

What's the best way to install a pacemaker on left side (I'm right handed) to minimize bump. I've heard of subpectoral muscle implants and transaxillary percutaneous techniques but don't know the advantages/disadvantages of either over the standard under the skin placement.
I figure if I gotta have one of these things, I might as well make is as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Also, does insurance cover these approaches if they are considered more cosmetic?
Got proced...

Hello Pacemaker Club,
My name is JJ Dunn and I am a student at the College of the Holy Cross. For my sociology class, I am conducting research about the effects pacemakers and ICDs have on familial relations and life outlooks. Below is a survey of ten questions about life with a pacemaker/ICD. You can post directly to this forum or contact me at jadunn18@g.holycross.edu if you want the responses to be direct. Thanks so much for everyone`s help!!

Approximately 15 months ago, my dear husband had a pacemaker implanted for sick sinus syndrome. He is now 86-1/2 years of age and in fairly good health although with several intervening problems which have been handled and "patched up" several times. I have depended on this Pacemaker Club for answers to so many questions shortly after the PM implantation when he had problems. I am very thankful for all of the help that I have received.
Today is Easter Sunday and I am just so grat...

....... if Religion, politics & other such topics offend you. You can skip w/o difficulty by merely scrolling on past it like I frequently do.
In the past few weeks, several hundred, nay, thousands, of Christians have been put to the test as old as our religion is: "Are you a Christian?" To answer truthfully with "Yes" meant sudden, instant death at best. Or, perhaps ritual beheading or crucifiction at worst. Oh, it would have been so simple to lie and say "No," but that was not...

Hi guys I posted a while ago about a procedure I was having. An Av node ablation. Well here's an update. I had my procedure done at the London heart hospital in January and I haven't looked back I've hardly had any episodes of AF and when I have they have been 5seconds or less. Being completely dependent on a battery to literally keep me alive is taking some getting used to I won't lie. On the plus side I feel as though my surgeon and his team have given me my life back. I'm back working full ti...

hi,
i just received my 3rd pacemaker 2 1/2 weeks ago. Since then I

I have the new Boston Scientific device. My heart feels like it is beating in the center of my chest. No one can seem to figure out what is wrong if anything. I have complete heart block so I use my pacer all the time. Just can't figure out why Im fe...

16 months ago, i was rushed into hospital for as heart stopped for 45 seconds - with no real prior warning
After 24 hours they said pacemaker and it was major Afib
After another 24 hours had passed, Afib had stopped and the I was put on warfrine for the rest of my life with a pacemaker
The pacemaker has a high rate of 70bpm to try and stop the afib
As far as I know the Afib only ever lasted about 4 hours and that was 16 months ago, after a very stressy...
