Just had a pacemaker installed 3 weeks ago. I have my good and not so good days. Wondering how long some of you were off work after your procedure
Cheers

6 weeks

I took off six weeks and it was perfect for me. Just rested and got used to the idea that I had this thing. I have a sedentary job but a lot of stress dealing with the public.
5 Days

I had two surgeries on October 6th and one on October 7th last year and went back to work the next Monday. I have a desk job and figured I could rest there as much as at home...lol... everyone is different, but if I had to do it all over again I would have taken 2 weeks off to just mentally adjust to having the PM.
Good Luck and welcome to the club!!!!
One week

However I worked only 20 hours the second week. I do a lot of standing and walking at work, but very little upper body effort so I could manage just fine within my restrictions.

I asked the Dr. and he said it was ok for me to go to work tomorrow (4/13).......had mine put in Friday (4/10). I will only be doing office work. I'm sure that the fact I had a stable escape rhythm while in complete heart block and have never fainted or been dizzy played a large part in that decision.
Do you lift?

I have a month off but that's because I had a subpectoral placement, work in Physical Therapy and at times must lift my patients. Others probably have better options. I have seen people return to light duty and/or work part time and then increase their hours as able. Intermittent FMLA covers that arrangement. If you still aren't sure return mid-week instead of working a full week right away. I hope this helps, may you and everyone else here continue to heal and prosper.

I see so many of you took a decent amount of days off. I went back to work after 1 week. I couldn't stand being on the couch not doing anything. It drove me crazy! My Dr was not so happy that I went back early, as I also fractured my skull which is why I went to the hospital in the first place. But, 3 weeks off, you should be fine to go back. Depending on how physically active you are.

How physical is your job? If you work in an office environment probably, do construction work, probably not. See you are an engineer, but that can involve different activities.
Might be a good idea to ask your doctor that question....
I am retired, but in my previous occupation I could pretty much control the environment I was working in, so I would have been comfortable going back after three weeks....
