....... if Religion, politics & other such topics offend you. You can skip w/o difficulty by merely scrolling on past it like I frequently do.
In the past few weeks, several hundred, nay, thousands, of Christians have been put to the test as old as our religion is: "Are you a Christian?" To answer truthfully with "Yes" meant sudden, instant death at best. Or, perhaps ritual beheading or crucifiction at worst. Oh, it would have been so simple to lie and say "No," but that was not the example set by our Master some 2,000 yrs ago. His death did not end the ministry he started, for he recruited 11 exceptional men to carry on, augmented by a replacement for a companion who sold him out. Most of them met death for their beliefs, also.
Those who, in the early days, died for their faith were called "Martyrs." Rightfully so, the latest to die for merely confessing to their faith have also earned that title.
I know that I will receive a few negative comments for writing this note - but don't bother. You see, your approbation is nothing compared to the penalty suffered by those thousands in the Middle east lately.
Those believers will not have the opportunity to celebrate the holiest of all holy days this year.
It is time for the rest of us believers to once again offer all the opportunity to share our JOY. Trish has already done so, see her thread on her singing.
We are not alone, for our antecedents, the Jews, face the same ultimate test of their faith. As is common, Passover & Easter fall in the same week. Our common history & an uncertain future are inextricably intertwined, just as the DNA we share.
Further, it is time for us to stand up and bear witness to our beliefs. For if we do not start now, someday it will be too late and we will face the ultimate test - the question "Are you a Christian?"
Happy Easter, everyone.

Trish ; i'm sorry but I don't understand your comment , if I am wrong what exactly will happen to me ?
Incidentally, the people who had most to lose were the millions of people be-headed, burnt to death and slaughtered by Christians over the years. What crime did they commit ? They were non-believers !
From about the age of seven I have believed that religion is a force for evil rather than good and your suggestion that I should believe in it ,as some sort of insurance policy, will not make me change my mind one bit.
But I hope you enjoyed your sing-song today :)

Don, thanks for your excellent comments. You were a great help to me and to my dear husband, Bill, about 15 months ago soon after he had his pacemaker implanted and had some complications. He is now 86-1/2 and doing well from the pacemaker standpoint. He does have other health issues, but we are getting those handled as we can and getting "patches" made.
I so agree with you about your comments. I cry and pray daily for the people who are being martyred in many countries for their Christian beliefs. I am very concerned about the conditions in the Middle East, but I really believe that the "end time" is drawing near and that our Lord and Savior will soon appear to take those who believe in his death and resurrection home to be with him. I don't mean to be controversial, but this is my belief as a Bapterian (used to be Baptist, now Presbyterian).
Happy Easter!!
Anna
Thanks sunny

My favourite definition of " Faith " is that it is :-
Belief without evidence
I guess , because of my scientific training , I always look for evidence and, for that reason, I strongly believe in evidence-based medicine . I realise that some people believe in faith-healers ! I'm not one of them though.
I have re-read your post and cannot see what faith has to do with loving one another ; the guys doing all the beheadings are full of " faith " .Whilst I have many great religious friends , some of my most generous , loving ,compassionate friends are atheists and they don't need faith to possess those qualities.
Best wishes
Ian
Sorry, Don, I read it !

I was on the golf course yesterday and missed several short putts which proves conclusively that THERE IS NO GOD !
If there are any be-headers eying me up I would like them to know that, (like the majority of the UK population ) I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN but I know a guy in Georgia who is !
Enjoy the holiday

Many have suffered and died for their religion. Sadly, inhumanity is growing.
Life is sacred. My heart aches for those who live in fear and are not free to worship God.
Happy Easter to those who celebrate.
Happy Passover to those who celebrate.
Peace be to all.

I so agree with you, Cabg that we should stay with the support of those asking advice about their pm, etc. and not go into subjects that may cause controversy. That is not what Blake had in mind when he began this great club. I hope we all remember this.... aldeer
Thank you Cabg Patch and aldeer

Cabg Patch said it best "Recognize this site is for peer to peer support of people with Pacemakers, Defibrillators and CRTs." In the short four months I have been a member, I have noticed a couple of people trying to hijack this usually informative site to be their very own "Hey! Look at me!" personal chat room. I came here looking for help, not sermons, and certainly not politics. But, I have been told by one of the self-anointed Kings it was my fault for not skipping over all the uninteresting stuff to find what I was looking for, a Pacemaker Club.
Please keep to the topic

Please, folks, keep to the topic of the forum. Moderators are volunteers, so we as a community must respect and support the purpose of the forum so people find what they expect but are not turned away by finding religious or political sermons. Fine to do, but not here! I sure would appreciate it.

I just joined this site, thinking that there would be good advice and help on here. Now I see this sort of thing, and it has nothing to do with my pacemaker. How do I get off here? I really don't think this is a place to talk about religious beliefs. Take me off here.

Ian , If I am wrong, I have nothing to lose. However, if you are wrong, you have everything to lose. Trish
