Just wondering if there is any link between keeping cell phones in the shirt pocket i.e right on top of the heart and the heart rhythm issues ?? Does anyone know any research done on this correlation?
Thanks

What I Was Told

I was advised to use my cell phone on my right side away from my PM on the left side. That's no inconvenience for me since I already do That. Some might debate this, but why not just play it safe. I was also told to pass directly through store entrance security scanners and not stand/wait in that immediate area.
Thank you all

Thanks for the quick reply. My question was more related to effects of cell phones on our heart before getting PM, ICD etc.As Ian MC said they could be a small % of the population who could be susceptible.Cell Phones are getting bigger and more powerful handling all kinds of RF waves like 3G, 4G, Wifi etc and this small % of the population could be @ risk. Its worth a study/survey since people are gonna be living with ever advancing & powerful gadgets in future.
Thanks

I really doubt it. If that was the case, half the population would have pacemakers. I've seen studies that they're more likely to cause brain cancer, never heard a reference to heart problems. Phones are getting bigger, yes, but the EMF they emit is only a fraction of what we're exposed to.

This is a very interesting question !
A quick relevant anecdote . For about 3 years prior to getting a PM I felt VERY strange when I walked through the security entrance /exits in supermarkets ; by " very strange" I mean that I was near to fainting and had to cling on to the nearest rail / wall / shelf until the feeling disappeared
My wife thought I was either mentally ill or had an aversion to spending money !
Then I had the same pre-syncope feeling when I walked close to a cordless phone base station. I was also doing lots of flying at the time and hated going through those metal detectors , i felt as though I was very close to blacking out ( i am not crazy ; it is all the others !! )
I returned to a supermarket and measured my HR and found that it became irregular and bradycardic when I was near to the Electro-Magnetic Field at the store entrance
My cardiologist , who keeps up with scientific studies was intrigued and decided that I suffered from E.H.S which is Electro-magnetic Hypersensitivity. Recent studies suggest that a minority of the population's hearts do develop transient arrythmias when exposed to moderately weak sources of electro magnetic radiation and this would include cell phones.
So it IS just possible that a cell phone in a shirt pocket may be undesirable if you are one of the minority. The vast majority of the population would have no problems but never say "never" , we are all different !
An even more interesting question is how people who suffer from EHS and then have pacemakers react when they are near to electro magnetic fields.
