I am feeling insecure !

We go through life accepting that some things are certain and will never change . When things do suddenly change we think is this the end of life as we know it ? :-

-- The Pope is always Catholic

-- bears will always sh*t in the woods

-- Tattoo Man is ALWAYS online at the PM club

One of these has suddenly changed ( and no, the Pope has not suddenly become a Buddhist and , no, donr will probably confirm that the defaecation habits of bears a...

Implantable.com

Just in case there is anyone here, who used to be a member of the forum at implantable.com: I have set up a Facebook group with the same title to bring together the "old gang" as the forum software for implantable quit its job a while ago. Of course, other patients are welcome to join, too :-) It's by request/invitation only, not an open group, but I'll add you, if you apply.

This is not to lure anyone away, and I'll definitely continue to post/comment here, too. It's just that som...

Can you live with a fractured lead?

Hi All,
Had PM replacement on Thursday, all went well and was told in theatre my leads were ok.
On post op pacemaker check, they found abnormal readings.
Consultant came back and checked, told me that atrial lead is fractured and making a noise the pacemaker doesn't like.
I have been sent home with a 48 hour monitor on and then they will make some decisions.
I am so fed up it wasn't found in theatre.
So does anyone know, will I have to go back in immediately now to...

Heart Transplant Update

Hello everyone! I just thought I would check in with this wonderful group that gave me such needed support over the years. I am still doing good, some bumps in the recovery road but nothing I cant handle. I went through a pulmonary rehab class and I am now in Cardiac rehab. It's taking a long time to get my muscle and strength back but it is coming along. It will be a year on December 5th, since I got my new heart.

Does anyone know how Paul (fishfighter) is doing?

welding

I had a St Jude accent ssir mri fitted two weeks ago, I now heard that I should not weld, which is a huge problem for me as I enjoy tig, mig and inverter arc welding. Is there any way I can protect the pacemaker while welding, I restore classic cars as a hobby (retired) and often need to weld parts etc, I do not do large fabrication welds normally short runs.

Flying after a replacement

Hi All,
I had a replacement pm yesterday, on post op checks it was found that one of my leads is fractured. I have been sent home with a 48 hour monitor, so will know more next week.
Worst case scenario, I am going back in next week to get the procedure done again and a lead change. I should be going to Vegas in five weeks, does anybody know how how long you have to wait to fly if you have had a lead change?

Palpitations

I have been having many palpitations since my implant on October 2nd. They began about a week after surgery. I had them before surgery but have many more now. It seems just walking to the restroom causes them. Is this part of the getting used to the pacemaker stage?

To member: brokenheart :-)

Hello everyone!
I was surfing this nice page, when I suddenly saw in the "Gallery Image" someone nicknamed "brokenheart". I don't know her, never talked to her, but why "brokenheart"?
Well, I think that we should all campaign for nicknames and usernames as "HAPPYHEARTS", "STRONGHEART", "BRAVEHEARTS", :-) this site does not have place for broken things LOL :-)
Please girl, put a big smile on your face and let's all enjoy life.

pacemaker recommended for lazy A/V node

So, my Doc has recommended a pacemaker for a lazy A/V node problem, which, basically, causes my heart to skip a beat or two maybe once or twice a day. Recently, I was in the backyard having a beer, and smoking a cigarette ( rare occasion... I don 't smoke, except every once in awhile...), and I fainted. Due to an incident that occurred 4 years ago, where I was flying a hang glider and my left hand slipped off the control bar, so I decided to land... and told my wife about it, and she rushed me...

Hystroscopy and d&c

I need to go for a hystroscopy and d&c in two weeks time. Anything I should know to tell the anesthesiologist and gynecologist regarding my pacemaker?

I have been seriously shocked by (a few) healthcare professionals in the past, regarding their perception and knowledge of pacemakers. One even asked me once if I can hear it ticking! I thought he was joking, but he was dead serious! :o!

What's the story with general anesthesia and pacemakers?

Depression

Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone has had some depression since having PM surgery? I am not a depressive person at all, but have found myself being a little depressed for a couple of weeks now, off and on. Just wondering if anyone else has been affected like this? I do not like this at all!!

Quick question

Hi all! Quick question: how soon before your ICD/PM replacement surgery (due to battery getting low) did you receive notification you'd be getting the surgery? Two weeks? Two months? Thanks!
