Stroke Volume

79yrs, 175 lbs. PM implanted 9 weeks ago.

A stress test shows the left ventricle pumping at a level of 43 (milliliters?). The doc says my normal level should be about 60, so the heart is pumping blood to the body at 72% of its normal rate.

Metaprolol increased. No other action until it reaches 30ml (50%) or so.

Any comments? Any experience with these levels?

Start Cardio-Vascular training? I walk daily and do yoga and golf. Change my diet?...

New leadless St. Jude PM

I recently heard about the leadless St. Jude PM that goes directly in the heart with no wires in veins. The rep from St. Jude was at my doctor's office when I was there in PM lab for a routine check up and she told me about it. I have about 8 years left on mine but an acquaintance, only 34, was told she needs a PM for SSS like I have. Does anybody out there know how safe the new ones are and when they will be available?

Confused

Hi everyone, and thank you all for your wonderful insight and support on this site. Truly a great group of members.
My confusion hopefully could be clarified. I was diagnosed at age 50 with LBB and HF with an EF of 20% on February 2014.
I have been also told three months later since the diagnosis that I had some blockage of my LDA(Left Descending Artery) but not requiring stents only OMT- Medications.

My most recent Echos placed my EF at 35% and 42% most recently. My EP fee...

My daughter's replacement

I guess I am feel anxious about my 14 yo having a replacement pacemaker surgery. This will be the least invasive surgery she has had but I am still so worried something will not go as smoothly as they plan.
I found this site and I guess I just needed to vent this anxiety.

Conditions & meds

I have been to my heart doctor and eye doctor and they have different ideas as to what medications I should be taking.

I have a pacemaker for Sick Sinus Syndrome and have Atrial Fibrillation. Also have Glaucoma and blood pressure that is high at night and low during the day. High systolic in the 150's at night and low during day anywhere in the low 90's or less. The other day it was the lowest ever at 69/37. The lows are not good for Glaucoma.

I take Flecainide for A-Fib...

Security and your device

Good Morning,

My name is Stephanie Fitzgerald I was wondering if anyone else fears flying abroad due to the lack of consistency between airport security measures.
For example some prefer to use the magnetic wand on your lower body, knowing that if they go to close to your chest it could set off the devise. Others prefer to use the radio-wave machine, which although I have been in and is fine, airport security cannot guarantee your devise will not go off, and will not disclose any...

Electrophysiologist If I had known

I did not even know there was a distinction. I had my pm put in a week ago. Had a problem with spasms at the hospital. St Judes guy says it is the pacemaker turn voltage down. I feel no better than before. I have like a 7th sense when things are not right. Everybody disappears and I am released from hospital. That was Wednesday last week.

Called on Monday and told them I wanted pacemaker interrogated. They did not call me Back . I called on Tuesday and said nobody had called me. Wedn...

My son

My son had a pacemaker fitted nearly 2 years ago now and I just wanted to share our story.
My son was found to have 3rd degree heart block during a stay in hospital when he was 3 years of age. We were lucky as other than the heart bloke there were no further complications.
It was a bolt out of the blue for us and completely knocked me sideways as I had no idea there were any problems.
He was monitored then after a year it was decided a pacemaker would need to be fitted. This w...

Atrial Histogram

After reading a copy of my Pacemaker phone in report, I see that my Atrial Histogram chart shows my BPM is between 60-70 for 76% of the time. On either side of that Bar it is almost flat. I believe the chart should read more like a bell curve (Mountain shaped) instead of one Bar. What has to happen to achieve that Bell curve?? Or doesn't it really matter??

About to join the PM world

I'll start off by giving some information. I'm a 34 year old female with a 4 year old, 3 year old, & 15 month old. I've always had a relatively low bp. 2 years ago when I was pregnant my blood pressure started bottoming out. It would go extremely low and my pulse got low too. My heart then started racing. My OBGYN sent me to a cardiologist where they has me to bump my water intake and salt intake. I was told to take Sudfed PE to help bump my bp and prescribed me Motoprol for tachycardia. After d...
