Conditions & meds

I have been to my heart doctor and eye doctor and they have different ideas as to what medications I should be taking.

I have a pacemaker for Sick Sinus Syndrome and have Atrial Fibrillation. Also have Glaucoma and blood pressure that is high at night and low during the day. High systolic in the 150's at night and low during day anywhere in the low 90's or less. The other day it was the lowest ever at 69/37. The lows are not good for Glaucoma.

I take Flecainide for A-Fib. Atenolol for A-Fib & blood pressure.
Plavix for TIA. Combigan for Glaucoma. Problem is Atenolol brings daytime blood pressure too low but needed at night.

Eye doctor doesn't like the Atenolol and heart doctor say I need it for A-Fib.

Can anybody relate to this in regard to high and low blood pressure along with all the other things I deal with lately?

Thanks for letting me vent. Not a good day for me.

You have a real problem and , while I can't relate directly, I do sympathise with you ( and your Drs )

I know that low blood pressure is a real risk factor if you have glaucoma and is best avoided; but as far as I know low BP can be a side-effect of most anti -arrythmia drugs.

So your Drs are having to weigh up all the different risks; the risk to your eyesight against the risk of a stroke from your a fib and your high BP. Have they considered a cardioversion or ablation for your A-Fib ?

If you could get that sorted out , and come off the drugs ,then maybe you could live with your BP which doesn't sound too high to me so that would also take care of the glaucoma- low BP worry.

But I'm not a doctor and only they know what options are possible for you.

Best of luck

Ian

It's much better to live with a pacemaker than to risk your life without one.
