Other Moms will be along. Many have had healthy babies while hosting a pacemaker.

I guess they're just busy with their babies tonight.

There are no problems with childbirth

The pacemaker does not cause any issues during pregnancy. The only thing to think about is, you don't want your battery going out while your pregger's. Changing the battery is an issue (for obvious reasons) while your pregnant. so as long as you have at least a year left on your battery go for it. If you do not, see if they will change it out early for you and then get started on the family.

pregnant with pacemaker

Hi there. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and pacemaker dependent with no underlying heart rate. So far things are going great, besides a little edema. My doctors don't seem to be too concerned and said that if needed they can make some adjustments to settings to help . They are monitoring a little closer, which is great with me. My OB is experienced in all kinds of high risk pregnancies and doesn't consider this high risk yet. He said that he has safely delivered several babies with pacemaker moms.
He did suggest that we may do a scheduled c-section to prevent any unnecessary strain on the heart while laboring, but that will be determined later. I did have to stop taking Lisinopril and HCTZ while I"m pregnant so i'm sure the edema will be a little more than with most moms, but again it should be fine, and temporary.
I would suggest just looking for an OB with a little more experience with complicated pregnancies, those doctors are usually a little more confident and less panicky. Mine is great and doesn't appear to be even slightly concerned about the pacemaker.

I'm sure everything will go great, I see lots of other moms are on this site too, so It's definetely not something that's never heard of.
GOOD LUCK

So... did you have a baby?

I am also pacemaker dependent and have had one since I was a baby as well. I gave birth to my first baby last September (2014) and everything was perfect. I, too was concerned about how the baby and I would fare but I felt better pregnant than I did beforehand. Just make sure you eat healthy and eat a lot of protein! Women need at least 90 g of protein/day to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

I also gave birth to her naturally with no pain meds. That was an amazing experience! I love our story. Love, love, love...

Hope you are holding your little one by now or soon will be! I'm curious to know!
