I arrived in the cardiac unit the day before my third class medical was scheduled. I have total av block 100% paced. Curious to know how many current pilots are members and if you were able to get your medical. Being 100% paced, I think risking being denied my medical would take away the sport option for me as well as when the FAA gets off their thumb and passes the drivers license rule for GA. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Has anyone had any problems with getting a tattoo near their pm? I've recently got one on my wrist as a medical alert and my tattoo artist was terrified to go near me with the tattoo gun? I've been wanting to get one on my collar bone but not sure if the gun will effect my pacemaker because it will be hovering over top of it.

Hey Newbies!
I just came across this and thought it may be useful. I skimmed through it and most of it pertains to PM/ ICD hosts as well.

If I go to the mountains (about 6,500 ft.), will that be a problem for my pacemaker?

What a difference 24 hours can make! I got my pacemaker implanted yesterday morning spent 5 hours in the ER. I did get a good nights sleep but I woke up with a fever - 101.2 a horrific headache and intense nausea. after taking something for the headache and going back to sleep, when I finally did get up my temperature had dropped and I can now say I feel human again :)
I truly appreciate the comments from all of you on here. Thank you SO much!

Hey, Sorry for all of the posts but I have SO many questions... :)
Is it normal to feel your heart beat? If you have read my last few posts you know I have been having some serious issues with my pacemaker (implanted just yesterday) well I've been in bed most of today and a while ago when I went to lay down, I felt very distinctive heart beats. While not painful they were disconserting. They were steady but fairly intense and went on steady for several minutes. It felt as if someone was fli...

Hello ~ I had my implant placed Thursday am. When I awoke in recovery I was in horrific pain with every breath in and out. they immediately put me under again and took and x-ray and ekg or echo (not sure because I was out) Anyway the pacemaker was working fine so they sent me home. It went pretty for the rest of the day when suddenly, I couldn't breathe without intense pain long story short I ended up it the Emergency Room for nearly 5 hours where they took more xrays and did an echo. Once again...

Well affter spending 5 hours in ER last night (Pacemaker was implanetd yesterday) They gave me something for pain and sent me home with a muscle relaxer and told me to call me Surgeron in the morning. It did help me sleep but when I fianlly woke up I now have a fever and when I called my Surgeon they said he's not in today because he is in surgery and that I should go to the ER! Seriously? Come on! So now with a horrible headache and a fever it looks like I'm headed back to the ER :(

Hello to all.
Yesterday I had a pacemaker installed so this seems like a good time to introduce myself. I am 75 and I have had an issue with arrhythmias for about 35 or 40 years. I was always been told that it was nothing to worry about until last July. To make it short, Now I have Medtronic pacemaker and find it necessary to reorganize my life. I appreciate there being the PaceMaker Club to meet other people in similar situations.

Hi Everyone.....it's been SO long since I've been on here, but it's nice to see there are still a few familiar names.
I took Frank's (Electric Frank) death extremely hard and then right after that we lost Billie (BlueAustralia) and, well, I just had to go away for awhile and grieve.
But....I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!
So hello to all of my "old" friends and another hello to all the new members.

For a number of years now, when I'm in the vicinity of wifi or high levels of electromagnet frequency I feel like the frequency of my pacemaker is affected. Does anyone else feel that way? I have spoken to my electophysiologist who said that there should be no affect, however the technician I spoke to said frequencies can cause interference. I would appreciate any input.
Thanks in advance!

hi everyone, my eighteen year old granddaughter is graduating may 30th. the prom has been cancelled because the teachers don't want the responsibility of the students drinking. there were five university of calgary students knifed to death by a young man a month ago who had been accepted in to law school there at age 23. now he is looking at 25 years in prison. everyone is frightened. it is the world to-day i am afraid. at first i thought they had heard about me in my grade 12 year and the prom...

Just checking in. Hope to find all doing good.
Myself, really nothing new other then adding new meds. Kind of tired downing 12 meds in the morning and 10 at night. Not much room for any food. LOL I am still fighting fluid weight gain every day. They cut back my fluid intake to 1000 cc's a day. That is not much to drink. That's less then a 6 pack of 10 oz beers a day. Just kidding about the beers though.
I am due for a visit with my EP soon. They did some adjustments back in...

Hi guys,
I had a pacemaker fitted back in 2009 and now I'm studying at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. I'm in the 2nd year of my degree and I'm making a piece of choreography on the 'heart'. I was just wondering if any of you would be willing to talk to me about your own personal experience for my research?
Thank you!

Thanks for the help re sleeping on pm side. That was ten years ago, so the nurse probably meant until completely healed. Thanks.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
