hairdryers

Hello all, I am new to the group and not yet implanted....still deciding after being told yesterday it was recommended. Ive been reading some electrical items can cause interference like hairdryers! Can anyone advise me with regard to this... I blowdry my hair several times per week. Thanks.

I just had a PM last month. I blow my hair dry every day and have never had a problem. That being said Iam not PM dependent so someone dependent might?? Usually most household things won't bother you. Of it does back away

You can safely use a hair dryer. It will have no effect on your PM whatsoever regardless of how much you are paced. I got mine almost 3 months ago and use a hairdryer almost every day. It states right in my manual that it is safe and will not cause any problems.

Good luck to you!

...all sorts of things interfere with a PM. Remember who writes the cautions: the lawyers and they're very good at CYA.

Occasionally there will be someone who finds something but it doesn't happen very often. Usually it's recommended not to do arc welding, though there are people who do it. Also industrial magnets / generators could make you feel funny. That's what happens if you get interference. The PM goes into test mode just like when they do your PM checks at the Drs office when they put a strong magnet directly over it. It paces at a set low rate. Once the source of interference (or a magnet) is taken away the PM resumes normal operation.

A good rule of thumb is to keep anything you might get interference from at least 6 inches away from your PM. New PMs and wires are shielded pretty well so even this is being very cautious.

You can do a search in the upper right corner of this page and find lots of posts on interference. If you experience any let us know.

Anything like this is fine, hair tongs, straighteners, shavers, etc. no problem!
