Does everyone wear an ID alert?

Definitely have an ID bracelet

I don't have any family members living within 300 miles, so I wear a MedicAlert ID because my family will be informed if I am ever unconscious and transported by ambulance or end up in an ER. That alone, gives me peace of mind and it's worth the cost of membership and the bracelet!

I asked my Dr. if I should get one and he told me it wasn't necessary. He said paramedics are trained to look for scars and signs of pacemakers but if it will give you peace of mind then it certainly can't hurt anything.

I have it tattooed on my left wrist. I wish I could upload a picture to show you. I think you should have some kind of id just in case! With a bracelet or tattoo they will know to check for you pm card and can get all the info they need :)

Yes definitely. It is rare for doctors to scrape someone off the road, but paramedics. I have an ID with a 24 hour call number. This tells of all my medical history, and especially that my pm is not MRI compatible. This came in useful when they wanted to give me an MRI after an accident, but had to make do with a CT scan instead.

ID Alerts; there is a place for them
by IAN MC - 2014-05-11 04:05:08
I believe in ID alerts but ONLY for people who don't have pacemakers ,
Anybody with bradycardia and a history of cardiac pauses , but no PM , should have a large alert on their foreheads so that we can avoid them on the roads !
Cheers
