celebrating 20 years of pacing

I've been thinking about how to commemorate 20 years of pacing and finally came up with something good! I was leaning toward a paintball party or maybe the new zipline course I heard about but I signed up for my very first 5K. I really hate running. I do it every day but it's a struggle, so this will be a good challenge for me. One of my kids is doing it with me and my gym has a huge team, which means it'll be a fun party. And we get cute shirts.

Ear ache

2 weeks post pm for third degree heart block. I had the settings adjusted so I could actually sleep but now I'm experiencing a light dull ear ache n sore throat on the same side as the PM implant. It comes and goes and is not that painful. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Any advice?

Hi everyone!

I currently don't have a pacemaker, however I have SVT.
I was taking medication which has caused my heart rate to lower to much and is causing more complications. And is very painful!!
It seems every doctor/specialist/surgeon says that a pacemaker can be fitted to help with the condition yet no one seems to want to put one in.
Just wondering if any of you have/ had SVT and know if pacemakers are used to fix it?
I wouldn't mind if I was to got one,...

I have had a pacemaker for 20 years

Dear parents!

I am now 24 and have had a pacemaker from age 2. I was born with complete heart block and my heart rate eventually decreased to around 17 beats per minute.

I am completely healthy now, but my mum recently told me how terrifying it was for her to find out the diagnosis.

Please feel free to contact me via PVT MSG if you want to set up a call or if you have any questions about what its like to actually grow up with a pacemaker (its aweso...

6 weeks post implant ~ doing good!

Hey Everyone,

I can't believe it has been 6 weeks today since I got my PM. My how time flies! I am doing a lot better. I am finally starting to feel like I was before. My biggest issue is trying to get back in shape. I have been walking about 2 miles most days and one day last week I rode my exercise bike for about 20 minutes and on Saturday went for about an hour and half hike at a little park close to my house. That felt really good. I am hoping this week to start lifting so...

Has anyone moved shortly after pm surgery?

Before my pacemaker placement I'd put my house on the market to move out of the small rural area to a big city where my family lives. Besides living nearby family again I realized this small rural area didn't have the medical help with some cancer follow-up.

After the collapse and PM placement my exhaustion was so extreme I told the realtor to take it off the market. My experience here with the cardiologist further convinced me I need to get out of this area for follow-up if I e...

Pacemaker Mediated Tachycardia

I had a RF Ablation last November! All went well although I experienced a few what I call "tremors" since then. I had a check up recently with the cardiologist and Pacemaker Technician. The result was an episode of Pacemaker-Mediated Tachycardia...has anyone else heard of this or experienced it?

Tried another class

This one was called R.I.P.P.E.D. A little different than Body Combat and I was able to keep up. It involves cardio, endurance and strength. The upper body portion includes pushups and dumbbells, 5 lbs. each. I was able to do it all without stopping or modifying anything for the upper body.

I did need to modify the lower body movements...constant moving but no jumping for me. My new, year old hip was so strong! My old, arthritic hip and lower back survived the first class so we...

EP's in Seattle area?

Can anyone recommend a good cardio/EP in the Seattle/Tacoma area? I am trying to get into the UW EP lab but have no knowledge of who is considered the best in the region for my type of issues - no conditions found in echos, EKG's, Holter, but still have vasovagal syncope + low BP. Any recommendations would be welcome!! Thanks!

Disability

I started passing out in 2010. On 9/11/12 i got fired from my job because I could no longer perform. I applied for disability in 3/12. In 4/12 I was on my third ablation and they burnt so much heart material that I am totally dependent on a pacemaker at this point. To make a long story short, after all these surgeries I am in worse shape than I was before the pacemaker. I have lost everything I own and according to social security if you have a pacemaker it will fix all of your problems, ( wrong...

For those with a 3rd degree heart block

My CONGENITAL 3rd degree heart block was diagnosed at 3 weeks old. Until the last year (I am almost 32) I have lived a completely normal life with no major symptoms or complications. Over the past year and a half I have started feeling exhausted, have had headaches and an overall, general "icky" feeling every once in a while. I have finally decided to get a pacemaker on 4/25. My Dr. has told me with my condition, I'll only need one lead and those with the same condition PREFER one lead. That bei...

ICD Check Up

Recently had an ICD check up. Only my second since implant. There was an "episode" where my heart rate went up to 170 for 30 seconds. No shock or therapy, the ICD just monitored. I never felt a thing. My resting heart rate is usually 65 and only goes beyond 100 during very strenuous exercise. Never beyond 115.

Finding this out has been a mixed bag of feelings. Amazing that they can tell me the exact day and time of the event which was only two weeks ago so I know what I was doin...

New here, would love some advice/support

Hello all, I've been lurking on and off but decided to register as I'd love to have some support and bounce ideas off others who can relate to me! Here is my story - I don't have a pacemaker as of now but feel like things are heading in that direction. I am 36 years old, married mom of 3, and have always been active and healthy. I have had a tendency to pass out here and there, and low-normal blood pressure all my life. The passing out could almost always be tied to a trigger - blood draw, s...

My bruise!

I have a complicated history as can be read in my bio. I have had a pacemaker for 10 years and since my epicardial pacemaker have had no problems until it was changed over a year ago.
My EP said he hadn"t replaced many in the abdomen, which was to me very clear afterwards when I found it to be so close to my ribs that every time I bend it clicks on my ribs. He didn't really have an answer other than trying to move it myself.
(My first was done by a cardiac surgeon)

Anyway.....
