Recently had an ICD check up. Only my second since implant. There was an "episode" where my heart rate went up to 170 for 30 seconds. No shock or therapy, the ICD just monitored. I never felt a thing. My resting heart rate is usually 65 and only goes beyond 100 during very strenuous exercise. Never beyond 115.
Finding this out has been a mixed bag of feelings. Amazing that they can tell me the exact day and time of the event which was only two weeks ago so I know what I was doing that day. A little disturbing that there was an event at all but again, amazing that I had something in me that could take care of things if necessary.
So in summary, not happy an event occurred, happy the ICD was there to detect it and lastly, amazed that such technology exists.

No Grateful Heart, my doctor was not concerned. Nor was the ICD Rep. I have sent you a private message.

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.

Was your Doctor concerned at all about the "episode"? Did it occur during exercise?
My HR goes to 180 at times (although I monitor it and try not to go over 150, my max) but my NP doesn't seem concerned since it is during exercise.
This past week however, it went to 240 during exercise so something is going on. I don't believe it was long in duration since my defib did not fire (it's set for 220).
