Any advice?

Hi everyone!

I currently don't have a pacemaker, however I have SVT.
I was taking medication which has caused my heart rate to lower to much and is causing more complications. And is very painful!!
It seems every doctor/specialist/surgeon says that a pacemaker can be fitted to help with the condition yet no one seems to want to put one in.
Just wondering if any of you have/ had SVT and know if pacemakers are used to fix it?
I wouldn't mind if I was to got one, I just want something done to help me!

Thank you, :)

Afib ablations

Cabg, the "frequently at least two ablations must be performed" refers to Afib ablations (PVIs). Most SVTs need only one attempt, in rare cases a second is needed. In Afib ablations a second, third, and even fourth attempt is often necessary.

Pacemaker & SVT

Hi!

The pacemaker won't fix your SVT, it will only fix the slow heart rates that your medications cause. If I were you, I'd prefer fixing the SVT. Have you had a catheter ablation, yet? If not, that's definitely something to look into. And even if you already had one of these procedures, it might be worth to give it a second attempt - probably at a large centre that specializes in the catheter ablations. Nowadays most SVTs can be cured by catheter ablations. Some are more tricky than others. So, sometimes one procedure is not enough. But at large clinics, where they perform lots of ablations - at my clinic they do 2500 per year - and have the newest technology, success rates for catheter ablations of SVTs are more than 90%. I did have lots of tricky SVTs, but they were able to find and treat them.

Best wishes

Inga

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
