Tried another class

This one was called R.I.P.P.E.D. A little different than Body Combat and I was able to keep up. It involves cardio, endurance and strength. The upper body portion includes pushups and dumbbells, 5 lbs. each. I was able to do it all without stopping or modifying anything for the upper body.
I did need to modify the lower body movements...constant moving but no jumping for me. My new, year old hip was so strong! My old, arthritic hip and lower back survived the first class so we (my friend and I) went again 2 nights later.
My HR monitor recorded 240 for the high limit at the end of the class but it doesn't record how long at that rate. Couldn't have been long because my defib did not fire. Some sort of adjustment is needed, I think the RR setting is just too sensitive now. I will be getting that checked out.
The 2nd night, I limped home in a great deal of pain but not from my new hip and here I sit on a frozen gel pack for 4 days now. I don't want to call the Ortho because I know what he is going to say...time for a new hip. I can't do that again until I find a trusted PM rep. and that will take some time.
So it is not my protruding ICD or arm movements holding me back....it is my old arthritic hip and lower back.
In the meanwhile, I am still in search of a class or something to add to my gym routine to break this plateau. That is...after both my pride and hip recover.

Ripped
by Tick-tock - 2014-04-01 02:04:47
As soon as I recover from my upcoming revision and ablation I am looking for this class near me! I loved to body pump, but ripped sounds a bit more interesting. Currently, I can not keep up doing a lot of weights due to my pm and lead skipping into my armpit and pinching. I do body flow now which is lower impact, but killer workout! Keep an eye on that hr of yours!!! Hope your hip recovers and allows you to continue your normal activities. Good luck finding a new pm rep!!

My cardiologist is brilliant and after lots of trial and error got me running. I finished this years London Marathon in 3hrs 38 minutes.
240

If you were doing 240, either 1) you weren't really that high, it was counting paces as well as beats or 2) you were doing it on your own. RR won't go that high.
Ouch on the hip, take it easy. Ripped sounds fun.
