I've been thinking about how to commemorate 20 years of pacing and finally came up with something good! I was leaning toward a paintball party or maybe the new zipline course I heard about but I signed up for my very first 5K. I really hate running. I do it every day but it's a struggle, so this will be a good challenge for me. One of my kids is doing it with me and my gym has a huge team, which means it'll be a fun party. And we get cute shirts.

Tracey : Who knows , you will like the cute shirt so much that you will be going for a 10k next and then the sky's the limit ! ( you get matching underwear if you do a marathon ! )
Best of luck
Ian

Hi Tracey, go for it, but make sure don't trip and fall, OK?
Landing on top of the PM is painful I would imagine.
Just be careful. Please.
I wish you well and fun times.
Duke
Congrats Tracey

Go for it & good luck. I'm just heading for my basement & do some much needed bike exercise as my right knee is hurting. One of the hazards of sitting around at age 82 & 6 pacemakers over the past 22 years. I'm really thankfull as I've been very active & have to mention that you have been an encouragement to keep me going, even when I hit a few bumps in this road of life.

Thanks for all the support! The race is May 3.

Boston, I want that shirt!!! My workout shirt today says "I run. I'm slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter, but I run"
Ian, oooooh, matching underwear for a marathon! But are they cute?? Cute is the important part.
Duke, it's a beach run. If I fall, I'll try to aim for the sand.
Moner, I do all sorts of stuff, including running, but running is by far the hardest for me. I can hike all day (literally) but running a mile kills me. I don't doubt I can move for 5k, it's just a matter of how much is running and how much is walking.
Yesterday I was a little annoyed when one of the coaches at the gym announced to the whole class why I was doing the race. I don't make a secret of my issues, but I don't shout it out to a room full of people, either. But this morning, two people who hadn't signed up told me now they were doing it now because I was. So, I guess I forgive her.

You'll have a blast and bragging rights. Saw a FB post from Bands on the Run, the one in Maine I did 4 days before my pm implant-Slow runners make fast runners look good. Your're welcome! Wish I'd had that on my shirt!
Sitting in Phoenix airport hoping next time I'm here is for the AZ Rock and Roll 1/2.
Keep us posted on how it goes!
