pacemaker sore area

Hi All and thank you for all information. I am 4 1/2 months pacemaker post op with no problems with recuperation. Right after PM, I had open heart surgery from a lead making a hole in the heart but even with that, my recovery has been good. Recently I have been sore in the pacemaker area, a small area is black/blue. A PM check is scheduled for 7 weeks, MD visit in 8 weeks. Should I just monitor this soreness? If it gets worse, guess I would see the primary MD. Any thoughts?
Thank y...

pregnancy

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well! I recently found out that my husband and I are expecting our first child. I go to my first "high risk" clinic appointment on Feb. 20th. My question is, what happens to my baby if my defibrillator shocks me? I have been pacing a lot more lately, and it is incredibly noticeable. I think I am also having a lot of PVC or PACs. It is happening almost every day now for an extended amount of time, a few hours or so. I don't want anything happening to hurt the bab...

Sick Sinus Syndrome

Hi all,

I am 54 and had a pacemaker implanted on July 15, 2013 for third degree block. Since then, I have been using my pacemaker very little and have it set to 30 so that it only triggers when I have severe Bradycardia. Since implant, and before, I noticed exercise intolerance. Inga, very rightly (thank you) diagnosed me with Sick Sinus Syndrome. Last week they put me on a treadmill and my heart suddenly dropped to 80 Bpm from 130 while in the third phase of the test. So now, SS...

Crossfit lingo

It's so exciting to see so many posts recently from Crossfitters!!! I thought some of the posts might be confusing to the non-CF crowd since we tend to speak our own language so here's a quick list

WOD - workout of the day

Benchmark - this is a named wod (like Fran) repeated every 4 months or so. These will be exactly the same so you can record your time and see how much you progress

PR - personal record

RX - prescribed weight, or a target weight for a...

MRI and leads

If your pm is not MRI compatible can you change it out at next replacement for an MRI compatible one? Or would that do no good because the leads will still be the old ones? Looking at upcoming diagnostic knee surgery because I can't get a decent imaging study. Trying cortisone injection first but if it is a large tear I'm just delaying a needed repair. If its a small tear it might heal on its own so surgery would be just be done because I can't have an MRI. Not real happy with my EP right now an...

looks like PM for me

After 2 1/2 months of waiting and many test. The EPS is done. The EP said it was so so normal just a little mis-fire. Atfer we discussed the passing out and low HR we decided a PM was needed. I am good with that, @ 59 1/2 years old looking forward to being able to run and ride again.

Thanks for having this site.

Life Watch ?

Has anyone out there heard of Lifewatch? that's the company my dr has ordered my 3 week monitor from, so far I haven't heard anything from them although I did call the dr's office yesterday and they said sometimes my insurance co takes along time to process and approve. Apparently they will contact me after insurance authorization and fed ex the device out to me to wear for 3 weeks. Hopefully this will get to the bottom of why i'm feeling so lightheaded again. I am so tired of feeling this way b...

Seat belts

I live in Leicestershire, England. Having had my pacemaker fitted 1 week ago, and still in a deal of pain, travelling as a passenger in the car is a real problem. I have been sitting behind the driver but if anyone knows of a seatbelt cushion or some sort of adaptation I would love to hear about it.

Latest Update on 85-Year-Old Husband

My DH had his first "interrogation" I think you call it today of his pacemaker implanted January 3, 2014. I'll have to admit that I was totally ignorant as to what they do. I could tell that there was a problem when the tech called in one who was seemingly more knowledgeable than she was and there was quite a bit of low-tone discussion between them. When the doctor came in, he was quite confused for which he later apologized. He had said that my husband had had a defibrillator implanted beca...

reading way to much

There is just to much here and on the net. What is next?

EPS Friday. Long two month, nothing to do but wait to see what this guy thinks.

PCP at first visit end of November said your heart rate is to slow you need a pacemaker. Cardiologist from frist appointment before any testing said No pacemaker, after she did all her testing said I could send you to another specialist for one more test. Went 2 1/2 weeks ago he looked at the results of her stuff. Decided he coul...

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
