Had emergency surgery on July 15 this year for third degree heart block. I have healed up well on the outside, but continue to feel pressure in my center near where the ribs on either side come together. It feels like I've swallowed a bone, a heaviness, and it's quite uncomfortable. I had a second opinion the other day from another cardiologist, and he told me that he thought this feeling was in my head and that if the feeling didn't go away I should talk it out with someone. That would be re...

So, I am a very weird unproductive man. By that I mean, I like to learn new things and move on to learn something else. One thing I would like to learn is how to fly a plane. I'm just wondering if having this little computer in my chest stop me from flying a plane? Like, might it mess with the systems of the plane or the plane mess with my systems?

2 weeks ago today I got my new friend and after a few scares (it was thought the lead had pierced my heart and was bleeding - but it was not) I feel amazing! like I could conquer the world (with my left arm not going above my shoulder)! No exercise yet, except the treadmill but it's coming soon!
Anyhow Thanks for all the responses on my posts and hopefully I will continue to feel amazing! and I hope anyone who is not feeling their best will feel better quickly.

A friend sent me a link for an iPhone App that supposedly gives you an instant heart rate readout, using the tip of your finger. Just curious if anybody has used it, knows anything about it, or whether it is worth playing with. I know heart rate monitors aren't always accurate. It only costs $1.99 to download to your iPhone and is a bit intriguing.
Here's the link:

I recently joined the study group found at HealtheHeatt.org
I have been impressed with how they sent the AliveCor monitor to me for free.
I'm curious to know of other paced folk that are part of the study.

Hi everyone.
I had my dual PM installed Oct. 28th. What took me to the hospital was I passed out on Kitchen floor. I had been feeling dizzy and had periods of seconds where I saw grey a couple days before. I was diagnosed with syncope, complete heart block.
Now 2 weeks with PM and no longer see grey, but am extremely dizzy. I don't go to the pacemaker clinic until Dec. 6th. I also feel heavy in my chest and it is sore to lie on my left side. My head feels let it want...

Hello Everyone!
I am a new member. I live in Florida and I love it. I thank God that this is where I had my heart problems because there are two hospitals here that specialize in care for older adults and heart conditions. If it were not for them and my husband, I would not be here. I had my operation last January, but I am fit as a fiddle now. I am working hard to get in shape with the idea of getting certified to teach aerobics again. It has been a life long passion and I stil...

I had a follow up with my EP today. Things went relatively well. I had a single chamber PM placed due to sinus bradycardia. My dr would like to see me back in 2 months due to sharp pain at my lead and pressure in my neck... He is hoping it is all just part of the healing process, and is hopeful that it will resolve. However if it does not he stated it may have to be moved to just below the ski instead of subcutaneous. My PM has also shifted slightly into my armpit. At any rate, I go back beginni...

3rd day wearing my event monitor I had a short run of something for about 5 mins. Very irregular pulse with no specific pattern this time. Sent the data by phone and the tech said, yup, I see it, but wasn't allowed to tell me what it was. They send the strip to the doc. So far all I know is I have two types of uncomfortable rhythm patterns. One that is disorganized and the other that has a very distinct pattern of 3 beats and a pause. I'm guessing that they originate from two different location...

I have seen a few posts on here about diet mainly wanting to know about any safe diet pills. I by no means have done any research on natural herbal diet pills. But there are a lot of people on here that give advice on what to eat and exercise and not understanding that there are people who do that and still have trouble losing the weight. I Am one of those. Obesity runs in my family(however I am not obese but OVERWIEGHT). To those that are doing what you are supposed to be doing such as eating h...

Hi, I just joined the forum.
Got a Medtronics dual valve, MRI comparable four weeks ago. Had a Wenckebach 1 second degree AV block. I am a very active 72 year old, and my cardio felt that with my activity level, and a few 4 second intervals in a 24 hour heart monitor, this would be perfect time for me to get rid of problem with pacemaker.
Am beginning to feel good, fishing shore every day and no problems. the only concern i have is cosmetic. I still have a small "lump...

Mentioned to my wife that I have the answer to newly implanted folks. Get a puppy or two. We got a couple of puppies (long story) two weeks before my implant. We have been so busy with the puppies that the two weeks since implanted went very, very quickly with absolutely no real issues. Is there a connection?
And the final steri strips came off my incision today and I had the opportunity to fully see my scar for the first time. I mentioned to my wife that my bikini days are probably o...

Quick check in.
Nothing new going on with me. Just trying to take care of the wife. We still don't know what is going on with her and of course she is a pita when it comes to going to the doctors or taking any meds. Had to tell her that if she doesn't take hers, I'm not taking mine. So far, that worked.
Got her a appointment for next Tuesday for a full Cardo work up. Her bp is still all over the place, but her pulse is what has me scared. It's been running no less then 100...

Just received my 30 day event recorder. Nothing at all like a Holter monitor. Smaller than a pack of cigarettes. Fits in a shirt pocket. Runs as a continuous monitor but when you sense a symptom you hit a little blue button on the front and it records an EKG strip of what is going on. You can then call in to a 24/7 center where you download the event, they review it and send a copy to your Cardio's office. All sold state hi tech stuff. Neat huh? Three leads on chest wired to a cell phone sized m...

I'm scheduled for a LEEP procedure in January - a GYN cervical surgery. They will use electrocautery. They've scheduled me for a pre-op appointment and an Anesthesia appointment (even though this should be local anesthetic only).
Has any other woman had a LEEP while having a pacemaker? The scheduler today said my surgeon has been communicating back and forth with my EP Cardio, and it sounds like either he also will have to be there during the surgery or a rep from Medtronic. They had said t...
