Hi all. Has anyone experienced pain and swelling in PM area after a long car ride? I had to ride in backseat of a truck and I think all the constant jiggling might have irritated the PM pocket. It had been 3 days and it still hurts and there is a lot of pressure especially when I rise from laying down. I called doc today and they said to call tomorrow if not better. Anyone else have their site act up ? The scar is totally closed so I thought it wouldn't be infected but maybe just inflamed tiss...

Lots of fun stuff there...
The first video there is Holding the Human Heart, about a heart surgeon and why she chose to do what she does. Very touching video... heart warming...worth watching...enjoy

Hi two weeks ago my son who is 3 and a half years old had his open heart surgery and he ended up with sinus node dysfunction and has now got a pacemaker. I am not sure what to ask? Definitely wasn't expecting this. My first thing is should I get something for him to wear saying he has a pacemaker as they give us cards but I carry those and if i am not around they are no good. What else is good to know? I know he has to keep phones iPads Etc 6 inches away and not to play direct contact sport and...

It's been 5 weeks since my pm and I worry that I might get bumped right in that very spot..Thinking of a removable tattoo of a pacemaker to make people be more careful around me,of course not till I'm 100% healed, it would also tell emergency people of my condition. Is that to far off the wall?

BobC: Does anyone know of an outlet that has Pacemaker lapel pins for sale? About 1" in diameter that can be attached to a shirt collar or between the buttons on a shirt front. I donât care much for bracelets or neck chains.

Good evening,
I experienced a v-tach storm on March 2nd of this year and was shocked 31 times within an hour. Also an additional 8 times in the hospital while they were "experimenting" with my device after a cardiac ablation.
Prior to that I had one shock a year earlier. I've had my CRT-D since December 9, 2009.
It appears my driving days are over. After my first shock and only shock in 2012, my cardiologist suggested that I not drive for six months. After th...

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this PM world. I had mine implanted on June 21st this year and I'm still learning a lot and trying to cope with it. I have an important congenital heart condition called "restrictive miocardiopathy" and this disease lead to electrical problems in my heart.
This is the bad part of my life. I'm from Brazil, 42yrs old, with very good sense of humour and I think that a PM is a second chance for me, just like a parachute when I practiced paragliding.
I'...

Hey everyone,
I am a new member and just want to say "hi." I have a St.Jude ICD, which was implanted in 2010. I continue to do well and my ef has increased from between 10/15 percent to 72 percent, which is amazing. I don't suffer from heart disease; rather, mine is a problem with synchronization, which has been helped, of course, by the ICD. I walk, hike, dance, exercise, etc. and feel great. I hope that this site will give me insight into how others are coping with their devic...

........or do I not get the current fashion for writing, so called ..'English'.. with French 'cedillas' over the 'As'.
The UK has always been a central melting pot for language / creativity / experimentation...lets face it ..Brits invented everything that makes life good.....Telly,..Electricity,..and the inflatable tyre ( Tire for the newcomers )
So..der,..the Cedilla ?
One finds oneself terribly left out of this,..ahem,..'New Speak'...

I was just wondering if it's ok to tan in a sunbed with a PM? I'm fair complected and going to the beach next month for a few days and want to get a tan started so I won't burn.

Hi,
Haven't been on here in awhile but have checked in to see how everyone is doing....
I have been on Exforge for 6 years now. Combination CCB (Norvasc) and an ARB . Starting to get severe anxiety and hot flashes. (Too old for hot flashes, ha ha). Dr doesn't believe it's drug related. Am I surprised at his attitude, no. But I got him to lower dose of CCB to only 5 mgs. Been on new dose 5 days and still getting some hot flashes and anxiety.
Anyone else have a pro...

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone knows how long I have to wait to get back in a hot tub. I had my pacemaker put in about 3 weeks ago and the external wound has healed well. I had a third degree heart block and feel so much better than I have in a long while. Thanks for the info.

Just checking in and to let everyone I'm doing ok. Gland to heat others are doing good.
The only problem I had in the last three weeks other then the chase to keep fluid off was that last Wednesday, I ripped my picc line out about 8". Didn't feel all that good. I was home by myself and started feeling real bad. Made a call to the wife and then one to my transplant nurse. Had to go to the nearest ER room for a replacement. That took an hour. By that time, I was really hurting chest wis...

I had a pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago ---saw the nurse last week and she looked at the wound and said it looked good; then she put 3 strips on and said I could shower. She said if the strips come of it would be OK. The strips haven't come off yet and I wondering if I should take them off. With my first pacemaker they stapled the wound; this time they glued it. Anyone out there had the wound glued---- how long did you leave it covered. Thanks for the help.

Hi Everyone,
If anyone here has experience with a Toronto pacemaker clinic (and it has been a positive experience) can you please pass on the name of the clinic?
I used to attend to an amazing clinic out west before moving here and the patient care is very different.
Thank you for any assistance.

Hi Everyone,
Got word that some of you are worried and/or concerned about me and my whereabouts.
Let me begin by telling you that I got through my cancer surgery quite well. The only glitch was: I was meant to have a Pain Management Nurse assigned to me (and she was) but for whatever reason she wasn’t in the recovery room (as promised) when I awoke to excruciating pain. So, for those who know me the following won’t surprise you: I had to tel...
