I was just wondering if it's ok to tan in a sunbed with a PM? I'm fair complected and going to the beach next month for a few days and want to get a tan started so I won't burn.

l use sunbeds & have not had a problem with them at all.
As Don says make sure your incision area is well protected if its still "early days" & of course be sensible and follow all the guidelines for general use of the beds especially if you are fair skinned.
One other VERY important thing is to make sure you enjoy the beach !!!
Have fun, Sue X

Thanks for your advice guys! I called Medtronic and was told my particular device had no sunbed restrictions. I always start off with 3-5 min. and work my time up to no more than 12 min. since I do not tan easily. Sue, I absolutely cannot wait to get there!

My dermatologist told me to keep the incision out of the sun for the first year, as sun exposure would darken the scar. On another note, I was not aware that getting a tan ahead of time would prevent sunburn. Personally, I would advise staying away from sunbeds simply based on associated skin damage and risk of skin cancer.

No reason why not. BUT...
Do not let the incision/scar get a lot of radiation. They can be more sensitive than the rest of you - especially if it is a reasonably new scar.
