V-Tach Storm - Driving?

Good evening,

I experienced a v-tach storm on March 2nd of this year and was shocked 31 times within an hour. Also an additional 8 times in the hospital while they were "experimenting" with my device after a cardiac ablation.

Prior to that I had one shock a year earlier. I've had my CRT-D since December 9, 2009.

It appears my driving days are over. After my first shock and only shock in 2012, my cardiologist suggested that I not drive for six months. After the my lastest episode on March 2nd...my EP says that I need to make an "adult decision" about ever driving again...which I understand.

I'm just interested in hearing other's experiences with driving after an ICD shock/s...It would really help.

Thanks!

Ron

Ronnie,

I would personally look into the vehicle itself if this has only happened while driving. If it has been the same vehicle both times, perhaps there is a wiring issue. Also, if you are driving an electric or hybrid vehicle, they are able to generate enough of an EM to cause interruptions in devices within the vehicle. I have a contact through a physician who has an ICD like myself, who would only have issues while driving. Turned out his hybrid Prius put out a LOT higher EM than the government standards allowed and was causing his problems all along! Can't say without knowing if you were having other troubles, but might be worth looking into in order to maintain driving ability!

You know you're wired when...

You can proudly say you’re energy efficient.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
