Leadless Pacemaker

The latest on leadless pacemakers. Exciting!! It doesn’t work for anyone with existing leads or is dependent at this time, but this is a huge first step.

Healing

Hello all, just checking in to say I'm still alive and kicking after surgery. They extracted both leads, got two new ones and new generator. One lead totally fell about but doc got all but about an inch of it out. They accessed femoral artery and had some problems getting that to stop bleeding, got a couple units of blood and ended up in ICU for a night but things are going good now just sore.

One question for others who have had the femoral artery punctured- they said to watch for ha...

Surgery

Hi Members
As I have quite a few outstanding messages to answer to I decided to let everyone know the of my progress by posting this.

I flew to Melbourne for the day last Monday and saw the surgeon who will operate to do a biliary reconstruction on 12 June. The best new is that my eldest son will fly down from Queensland for acouple of days. My daughter will fly over later in the week to help my husband bring me home, hopefully, on 20 June.

Thanks to everyone...

The Shock of My Life

Being born with a heart defect was just a blessing from God. At 2 months old I underwent transposition of the great vessels (Open Heart Surgery - Transposition of the great vessels (TGV) is a group of congenital heart defects (CHDs) involving an abnormal spatial arrangement of any of the great vessels: superior and/or inferior venae cavae (SVC, IVC), pulmonary artery, pulmonary veins, and aorta. CHDs involving only the primary arteries (pulmonary arter...

Hi All

I'm back on the Dobutamine as of yesterday. Today they put a picc line in. They are afraid of putting a hickman back in due to it might blow out the main vein it goes in.

Of course I had words with my crazy doctor and it still is not going good there. It really pissed me off. Yesterday, when I showed up for my appointment for 11am, she walks by me at 12pm and back again at 1pm. Around 1:30, a nurse happens to come by me and asked who I was to see. I told her and sure as hell, my doct...

Is it me?

Is it me, or is it normal...

Every time I take my shirt off after a day of wearing it, I hear (and sometime see) the snapping from static electricity in my shirt. I have tried everything, Bounce sheets, fabric softeners, etc. No one else in my family experiences it except me.

Is it the pacemaker? Although it was implanted in 2006, I started noticing this a few years ago.

Anyone else experience this?

Expectations

Received my first PM 3 weeks ago after experiencing 3rd degree heart block. Very scary having never having a medical emergency in the past. Still trying to understand and accept the idea of living with my device. Should I be concerned about any restrictions physically, and how soon would be considered normal again.

Good Morning Everyone

I will be heading to New Orleans today. I have to meet up with one of the transplant team doctors. The one that gave me 6 months to live and the one that is a pain in the rear end. She is working the hospital side, but will come into the clinic to meet with me. She has some terms that she will demand before getting me back on Dobutamine. No telling what her demands will be, but if she tells me I have to go into hospice care, we will have a fight. LOL If her terms are reasonable to me, she will...

Afib, Pacemaker & now Congestive Heart failure.

Hello All,
It has been a while since I had my PM put in (April 2010). I have struggled with it and finally got used to it. I a tired all of the time and I thought that it was because of the Afib & the PM.
Last Thursday night I felt very bloated, could not get a good breath and was extremely weak.
I saw my doctor Friday morning and he said that I was in congestive heart failure. He prescribed lasix & potassium, sent me for blood work and a chest x-ray. Today I have a heart echo...

Good news!

I know I haven't posted in a long time, but I do read the posts. I was implanted with a St Judes CRT-D in June of 2009, and have done very well, none of the issues that seem to be consistently discussed in this forum.I have no pain, no shocks, no worries! I recently went to see my cardiologist in Salt Lake City and miracles of miracles, he was able to turn off my pacemaker! My LBBB had DISAPPEARED! MY EF was up to 62% from 28%! So now I'm just on hold I suppose-battery has about a year left or...

My cardiologist died this week....

I need to find another physician to manage my pacemaker, which had significant loss of battery life over my last two three month checkups. Does anyone recommend any cardiologist in the Lansing, MI area? I prefer NOT to go to Thoracic Cardiovascular Institute. Thanks alot!

Glad you love Nashville. It i a pretty cool place to live.

I am glad you are so positive about the 100% dep. thing. 99% is good enough for me. I just am a bit concerned about the battery life when I am so PM dep. My PM is the newer model where I can have MRI's if needed. I had to have one a week before surgery and learned then of that PM.

Thanx for the welcome. Hope to see you in "words" again soon.
Be blessed

Gooday everyone

No, I am not from Australia, but watched the 8 season McLeod's Daughter's series on Netflix and Hulu Plus. Took me 7 months but loved it and recommend it to ya'll.

Yes, I am from the south....Tennessee to be exact. Have lived all my life around these parts in Nashville.

This is my first post, so I am a little wet behind the years on what to talk about....but here goes.

I have had heart palpitations since I was 17....about to turn 70 in August, so I have had to...

SNITCH... anyone with SVC issues

Hey Snitch, I know you had issues with SVC scarring post ablations. Can you tell me what your symptoms were? I've been having this pressure feeling in my face/neck. Only way to describe it would be if you were to stand upside down and all the blood rushes to your head, that feeling like your head is going to pop! I have also been getting terrible bloody noses, which I NEVER get. My face is swollen. Feeling is worse when I lay down. My doctor was talking about SVC problems but he is just my...
