Received my first PM 3 weeks ago after experiencing 3rd degree heart block. Very scary having never having a medical emergency in the past. Still trying to understand and accept the idea of living with my device. Should I be concerned about any restrictions physically, and how soon would be considered normal again.

If like me, you'll go to your first check up, they will check the leads, make adjustments to the pm based on what you tell them & what the device tells them, then they will tell you there are no restrictions.
That's your cue to get on with the rest of your life.
I am 2.5 months post implant, I run, walk long distances, work out, drum, do all the things I want to do.

You should start feeling better every day. I started work at two weeks and started working out at six weeks. Also was an unexpected heart block surprise. Gives yourself time and ease back into your routine. Getting your head around it is also normal and appropriate in these early recovery days and weeks. Good luck. Glad you`re here!

greetings,
I have had my PM for just over 3 months now, so I'm basically a newbie here as well. But this is a wonderful place to find information and share experiences and ideas. You picked a good place to start...
I'm sure you were given "physical" instructions when leaving the hospital... things like not raising your arm over your head and taking things slowly, watching the "area" for infections and such...but I don't think I was prepared for the psychological side of this... feeling little pains... little shocks... wondering if I'll ever get used to this foreign objects that now lives inside me...is it just me or is this thing moving around in there????
Welcome to the club... as you feel your way around here, you'll surely find some comfort in the fact that you are not alone in what you are going thru...It's perfectly normal to feel scared...weird...confused... but , as time goes by, it does become more comfortable, both physically and mentally...can't have one without the other...so, just give it a little time, and stay in touch ...
