Scar Eruption

Well, my scar erupted again last night. It started to calm down after a few hours but then it flared right up again. It never did that before. It’s been happening for 2 years now, averaging 5 times a month. It started after a lead revision 2 years ago. It gets very itchy, looks like it blisters up but no noticeable fluid and a very tight feeling around the scar and device. This time it lasted over 6 hours…the longest time so far.

My husband wanted me to go to the ER this time...

Frank Passed Away Last Week
Posted by ElectricFrank on 2013-04-21 18:12

Hello, my name is John and I am Franks son. Frank passed away last week. I know he truly enjoyed being a part of the pacemaker club. He did not die from a failing heart or defective pacemaker. In fact I'm certain he would have wanted this post to actuall...

Good Afternoon people

It's been ruff lately. Been having some real bad days. Chest pains are at a 7-8 level with no easing taking nitro. Been having to hit up the Morphine and Demerol. I am getting weaker by the day even thought I push myself to eat. My wife wanted to take me to the ER, but there is no reason for me to go.

I will be going back to my doctors come Monday. I sure they will do nothing. Last Monday, the dobutamine iv drip didn't help. In fact they had to stop it a couple times. Like to blow my...

METOPROLOL

I have a Boston Scientific pacemaker, it was implanted 3 years ago. I had it implanted due to a very low heart rhythm, and for 8 second pauses. I am also taking Metoprolol 50mg.......and I am not sure this is doing me any good.....I have been experiencing some of the side effects that are published for this drug, like heart pounding, light-headed, etc. I just notified my doctor but is anyone else out there with a pacemaker for low heart rhythm also taking Metoprolol or any beta-blocker, and i...

Post pm activity

In my mid 70's and with a new pacemaker, I felt limited in activities.
So, as I had written a few books that were published, I decided to get them in e - books. Almost immediately, I heard about a project that was offering e books for free with a code to the military. Sounded good to me. I just want to share that as of yesterday, my book downloads are 1,901 and aiming for 2000. feels good to do soomething for someone else, especially our military. Ann

Electric Frank's passing

When I read about Electric Frank, I have to admit it really hit me. He and some of the other more knowledgeable people in this club helped me get through that first year and then some.
In honor of Frank and all the other knowledgeable people who take their time to help us manage, I would like to suggest that all of us give some help and encouragement to those in need.
I would also like to thank all those others now while they can still read it for all the help and encouragement. Ann

Getting "Unplugged".....Part 2

Visited cardiologist this morning. He was happy to see me feeling well. He informed me that the infection which resulted in my pacemaker removal was contained in the sac where the pacemaker was. None of the infection had spread to my bloodstream. (I never had a fever during my entire 7-day stay in the hospital.) Had this happened he said I would have had endocarditis and would have been on IV antibiotics for months. As of this visit, he says that I don't need to have a pacemaker...

celexa

My primary physician prescribed Celexa because he thinks I have a lot of job related stress. I'm a little hesitant to take this medication because I have heard it has a lot of side effects.
Any feedback? Specially with someone with a pacemaker?

Dr gave OK to vacation in CO

Now that I talked to the cardiologist, he says I will be okay with my type of PM so I ask my fellow PM Club members what is the best advice you can give me to help with the altitude, for example someone mentioned we should drink plenty of water to counteract any effects of the altitude.

Altitude....Does it matter?

I have a question, I have had a Medtronic Adapta implanted since 6/2010 and wanted to get everyone's opinion. My husband and I are leaving for Vail, CO next month and wanted to know if the altitude will effect my pacemaker at all. I know it is an issue when scuba diving at certain levels but not sure about the altitude or not. I plan on calling Medtronic on Friday on my day off of work but in the meantime just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the subject.

mom with children, info on battery replacement rec

Hello,
I just had baby#2 two weeks ago and also have a toddler. I was told I need to have my PC battery replace anywhere from a 1 month to 3months. What can I expect after surgery? Recovery and limitations? I breastfeed, so how soon will I be able to breastfeed my baby afterwards? My husband is going to school out of state and will be studying for the bar during this time, so I have no family around and little help from him, so I am worried about recovery time. Can any mothers out there he...

Good morning everyone

Yesterday was a ruff one getting that infusion. It put me in V tack and Afib. I was all over the place. They had to stop it for about an hour to let my heart catch up.

My dogs woke me up at 1am. A dam coon came in the yard and of course the battle began. Had to go out there and finish it off.

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit better. I was dragging big time by the time I got home yesterday. That infusion took more then 9 hours. I will see how I feel the next few days to weigh if it...

stop the Warfarin??

There is a procedure called "Watchman L.A.A." They enter your left atrium by going thru your right atrium and into your left atrium apendage (L.A.A.) That is where blood may clot, thereby maybe giving you a stroke. They inflate a double shaped parachute, then cut loose and back out of your body they same way they got in---thru a hose down your throat.
Skin then grows over the parachute and the blood now has no way to acumulate in that cavity. Sounds neat because you no longer have to sw...
