I've had my pacemaker just over a year and recently been getting a strange tapping sensation, should I be concerned?

Yes, I feel the "tapping" sensation often. I feel it even more often when I'm tired. I have had it since my first pm and that was in 2005. I on my 2nd pm now and I still have the tapping feeling. I had grown so concerned that I spoke to my dr. About it. So some test were run and they were able to see what was happening to me.... Guess what? I get EXTRA heartbeats! That's what it is. At least for me anyway. I hope you are feeling better and that this has helped you.

Thanks for that , may get it checked out to be sure, but does seem to happen when I'm tired too.

I didn't have the sensation with my PM but it started with my combo PM/defib.If I am talking when they hit (always 2 or 3 in a row)it causes me to not be able to say words, I sound like a record skipping (oops gave my age away there). It feels more like the cardioversion that is discribed in Boston Scientific's booklet than anything. I had them hit while having my device checked and nothing showed on the monitor so the tech(or my doc for that matter)can't say what they are. There doesn't seem to be a pattern as they hit at all times during the day and night. Like pacergirl I have constant extra beats they call a prebeat before every heartbeat, makes counting HR interesting. Looking forward to other comments on this sensation.

When I first got my pm I could feel it tick. It happened quite a bit. I am on my second pm and have not felt this sensation for a long time. Ask your et about it when you see him/her.
All the best
