I realized that I don't know a lot of the newer folks, so here is my story!
My name is Sydney and I've been a member of PM Club since 2007 I believe.
I was actually diagnosed with my heart defect - congenital complete isolated atrioventricular block - around this time 19 years ago. My mother was 16 weeks pregnant. The doctor thought that based on my heart beat, I was a boy. But my parents had just been told that I was a girl. The doctor took another look at the ultrasounds and said...

I have had a pacer for 7 years for Bradycardia and Vaso Vagal syncope. It has the rate drop response set. I have had no problems for all this time. Now i have started to work out to lose a little weight and just get back in good shape. I have a personal trainer. Sometimes during the work out I have been getting light headed. I don't feel bad just a little nervous about the possibility of getting dizzy. This has not happened yet. Just getting a little fuzzy. Those of you who exercise regularly mi...

Good afternoon,
Has anyone with an ICD had Hernia Surgery???
I have a Boston Scientific
CRT-D/ICD...Pacemaker/Defibrillator...and just passed my 3 year anniversary...so far so good, I've only had one shock which occurred last February.
10 years ago, my doctor diagnosed me with Bilateral Inguinal Hernias and suggested surgery. I chose to stall as long as possible since they were not causing any pain, just occasional discomfort on the right side. He respect...

I came across this article when I was researching my new beta blocker today. This is something I've struggled with since I started taking beta blockers 6 years ago. The new one I'm on is making me extremely exhausted. It's really frustrating. Just looking for some solutions to the problem. Hopefully I can start taking some iron & b vitamin supplements and it will help.
I hope everyone is doing well. If any of my fellow pacers out there have any advice on losing weight and combating f...

Posted a couple weeks ago that I have an uncle that the doctors in Baton Rouge gave up on him and I happen to be in the room at the time.
Well, the good news is that after having him transfered to Ochsners in New Orleans, there transplant team has got him up and running. He will be coming home today. Just unreal from two weeks ago to today's news.
Now he is not healed by any chance, but now he is getting the right treatments. I know this guy and just 7 months ago he was spl...

I have had fainting episodes for a few years now. Before I pass out I can feel my heart slow down quite dramatically. These episodes are becoming more frequent and I'm not sure if its because the condition is worsening or if my freaking out about it is making it more severe.
Anyway, my doctor signed me up for the tilt table test, and after the nitroglycerin spray I passed out quite quickly. The test showed that my heart rate and blood pressure dropped at exactly the same time. My hear...

Hello everyone:
My medtronic PM was implanted on Dec, 5 2012 in Ohio, in my last visit with my EP all was OK, and since I moved temporarily to CA they sent me a Model 2490H monitor to send data back to Ohio. On the instruction manual, it says this monitor would work only with an analog landline phone which I do not have. My phone is digital through Time Warner cable and in our area most houses have digital landline. Just wondering should I try to use the digital landline anyway?. I...

The question I have is a hard one and a personal one with my own valid reasons. If it offends or is distasteful to some and their own beliefs I apologize in advance and pls move on from this posting. I am NOT interesting in posting comments about counseling nor religion. Here it is: I don't want a replacement pacemaker when the one I have now needs replacing. I am on complete pacemaker control so without it my heart would stop. Does anyone know the legality of such a request and if it can be gr...

Morning to all; Hey, I have a pm/defib and am wondering if there are any special instructions to give to dentists or their technicians about staying 6 in away from the device when cleaning, drilling etc. They had a tendency to lean on me b/4 when working and I wonder if that is too close. Thanks for all feedback! Dave.
