Hi In late January i had a 3 lead pacemaker installed at Vancouver General Hospital. Being a citizen of Canada my costs other than our provincial medical premium of $62.00 Cdn were exactly zero. In fact since my initial cardiac incident in 2004 and a recurrence in 2011 my costs wre other than medication all still zero. During this period I have been attended by up to three medical personel consisting of pharmacists, nurse practioners and cardiologists. My wait time once the decsion wasmade to install the pacemaker was about 40 days. Again all at no cost. Thank you Canada

Where I live in Tasmania Australia we have an excellent public free hospital system. A friend of mine had the same paceaker inserted a couple of weeks before I had mine done. He was admitted to the free hospital. Whether we are private or free public we go to the same hospital and get the same specialists. I am one of the fortunate one's that have private health insurance. My dear husband took it out in l961 when we were first married. If we have private insurance then the free hospital takes whatever the payout is from the fund. But you have to sign. Often I have to use the public hospital for emergency. The treatment is wonderful. When I bone a bone in my hand I was admitted, xrayed, diagnosed and plastered up all within an hour. That was a free service for me. I hate to hear people complaining about our medical services. We are so fortunate here

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
I paid nothing for my hospital stay

Us in the states have a range of costs. I am a nurse and work for a hospital. My hospital cost was zero! I just had to pay the doctor 20 % copayment. Not bad !
