BEST WAY TO PAY

A man with a pacemaker collapsed whilst walking through a barrier in a store.
The store manager called 911.
The paramedics rushed him to the nearest hospital where his pacemaker was reset and reprogramed.
He regained consciousness only to find for Nuns standing beside him. One of them had a clipboard.
She said to him how he was going to pay for his treatment.
"Do you have health insurance"
He replied "No health insurance"
The nun asked " Do you have money in th...

Heart beating too fast

I posted a week or so ago and thanks so much for your responses. I went to the PM Clinic for a pacer check and my resting heart rate was 108. My pacer is set at 60 bpm and the lower section is paced all the time 100%. I have had a couple of incidences of AFib and that part works 30% of the time. I am really kind of concerned because my heart rate goes up to 120 even just getting up to go the bathroom and it takes 20 or 30 minutes for it to go down again to 72. I feel my heart and get shaky all t...

Feeling Better

Thought I would put up a positive report. I have had a pm since Oct. 2012. It was for tachybrady and paroxymal afib. After the first month I was having Afib about 10% of the time. After 4 months it is down to 4%. I am on warfarin and 2.5 mg of bisoprolol. I have gained over 10 lbs (a good thing) and my feet are warmer at night. Working hard again without any restrictions.

restless

Has anyone felt restless/anxious/antsy at times post PM. I can't sit still sometimes. I'm not sure what causes this, I'm not in pain/tired. Sometimes I will get flushed in the face or my hand will be really cold. Anyone else have weird feelings like these?

How much / how intensive exercise can I do after the pace maker is put in? As much as I used to do?
I feel lot of palpitations in the night especially when i cant sleep. Coffee seems to keep me awake, and at such time I feel a lot of palpitation. Is it normal? I am 58 and had my pm put in last February. Taking 2.5 mg concor.
Climbing steps and walking uphill makes my chest and legs very heavy. Is it normal?

shoulder pain

I had a pacemaker implanted in July/201 (left side)..
Since then I have only one complaint.
When I raise my left arm in a "side raise" or "fly", or especially if I reach back to get my arm in a coat I get a pain near the deltoid area. Other directions of movement are fine.

ps: I've made 84 trips around the sun and two or more MDs have remarked that I present about 10 years younger.

Any similar pains? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
R

Going back to work!

Just got told that work had a test for EMF completed and none of the electrical equipment I repair is in excess of the levels set by St. Judes or the University of Minnesota. So I am going back to work this after noon at 3pm! Scared and excited as been off since last October. I will post the test result papers as soon as I get a copy. Not sure where I will post them yet, but will let you all know. I am a Maintenance Electrician in a plastics extrusion factory. Wish me luck but I am sure I w...

afib pacemaker question

My Dr has said I need a pacemaker. The proceedure he has suggested would be to ablat the av node and then use a pacemaker to send a pulse to the ventricles. My question is what would cause the ventricles to continue functioning, if the pm fails?

Heart Too Fast

Hi to everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted on here. Had my PM July 2012. No problems. Went for PM check 2 weks ago, got a call today from EP's office. Says I need to come in because "My heart showed episodes of running away"- her exact words. What does that mean? i know for several weeks I have commented to friends how I feel tired again. And I wake up in the middle of the night with my heart racing and feel like I am having a panic attack. Other times lately, I feel like my heart makes...

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
