I have been with Kaiser for the last 10 years, and am looking for a second opinion on my case, if anybody knows or could recommend me a good Cardiologist in San diego.
Thanks

Dating?

Opinions, please. I am just starting to date again after being divorced for two years. I am finding that as soon as I tell the guy I have a pacemaker they get weird and don't want to talk to me again. This has happened on more than one occasion. Please explain this to me, as I am dumbfounded.

USMC

I was hoping that maybe someone could give me some info.. I'm currently a professional firefighter and would like to become a part of the USMC Reserve. I have a pacer, but it's non dependant, and was hoping someone might have made it in with similar circumstances so I can bring it up when I talk to the recruiter. Thanks for your time!

just wondering

Hi everyone,
I am just wondering if it is normal to still have pain that feels like someone is sticking four needles into your pm sight. I had the pm & leads replaced on 8th October, and still find it hard to sleep on my left side at night. Then periodically I get these stabbing pains.
should I just mention it to my doctor next time I see her?

thanks
Katherine

VISITING HOOVER DAM...

Hi Pace Members,

I will be visiting Hoover Dam in late March 2013. While on Hoover Dam's web-site I read the following WARNING:

"The tours are NOT RECOMMENDED for anyone who suffers from claustrophobia, or has a pacemaker or defibrillator. Tours are conducted in confined spaces and in a powerplant with generators emitting electromagnetic frequencies."

Has anyone gone to the Hoover Dam and if so, did you go on the power plant tour? It seems that the concern is t...

From Pookie

Wow - thank you all for so many uplifting and supportive comments and private messages. I don't think I'll be able to respond to each and every one of them because of the sheer volume, but I will try.

The good news: I got my name on the cancellation list for my kidney cancer, but they can't call me in until after February 1st because I'm having my ejection fraction tested that day which is something the kidney surgeon wants...and i get it done every year at this time anyways. It's...

solar emp and pacemakers

I finally have an answer from a scientific person concerning the upcoming solar storm predicted by NASA that could possibly fry the power grid. This person Jerry Emanuelson is an engineer and a scientific investigator. I checked his qualifications and feel confident of his answer. Lord knows I have been sending Biotronik this question several times over with no reply at all! Nice company to do business with when your life depends on it. Anyway here is what Jerry explained to me;

magazines

I wish that they would interview, post, research individuals that have had pacemakers and include them in magazine articles. There are alot of us out there and this would be a great way to reach others that have had the same experiencs that we have. I emailed a popular running magazine and expressed my concern. They have articles on everything else, so why not follow, interview a post pacemaker runner/triathalete etc. and see how they are adapting etc. Any suggestions/ideas? Or maybe there a...

New Device Aims to Repair Damaged Hearts

St. Vincent Heartbeat: New Device Aims to Repair Damaged Hearts

Doctors are testing a new device that may help repair damaged hearts by stimulating the vagus nerve.

When Mike Herasimuk had a massive heart attack two years ago, life as he knew it was over. He couldn't work, and could barely get around. He has heart failure.

"My heart's in really bad shape, that's why they were thinking of doing a heart transplant also, but I'm not quite bad enough," he says.

So many questions

Hi everyone,
I am an 83 year old woman who had a PM implant five weeks ago. Seven years ago I had mitral valve replacement, tricuspid valve repair amd maze procedure. All of this should make me feel my heart is in great shape with all those aids. I am trying to understand what the PM can do. It will raise my HR if it goes below fifty, it will speed up the heart with activity with RR program (slow HR with exertion had been a problem). Does it aid with the occasional Afib? Last night I had pa...

New leadless Pacemaker

they are implanting the new leadless pacemakers now. It appears that they are catheter positioned so the time to implant is reduced, no surgery takes place so the infection risk is limited to the catheter equipment (it happens sometimes-unfortunately) and the price of getting one will drop so more people who need on can get one. GOOD!

Maint Electrician in plastics extrusion plant

Well I am supposed to be ready to return to work after my 6 week restrictions in 6 days. Problem is my employer won't let me return to work without a workability report that allows me to work without any restrictions. I may be exposed to a large array of electrical equipment daily, and although most of these pieces of equipment could be powered down for me to work on them I am sure there are many that gererate a lot of emf during normal operation. Can my employer refuse to allow me to return...
