Gerry and the Pacemakers

I saw this quote on here from someone else and now of course it has a completely different context.

I wonder if Gerry was thinking about IPGs when he or his group came up with that name?

I doubt it.

In my imagination, I can see Gerry belting out You'll never walk alone with his backing group of two lead pacemakers strumming their guitars and bashing the drums at 60 BPM.

Gerry could always get together with the Mersybeats.

The countdown has started

Had my second 3 monthly virtual clinic yesterday which is the run up to my second replacement.

Virtual clinic is upload pacemaker data and get a phone call.

Next appointment probably October face to face.

Estimated battery life 7 to 16 months.

Hoping that this time they get me in before the pacemaker does something unexpected like change mode.

The ectopics that plagued me last year seem to have stopped and it was suggested that I reduce the Bisoprolol dose to 5 m...

Stuffy noses

I wake-up with blocked nose every morning for the last 6 weeks, had my pacemaker 5 years ago, although this is hayfever season in uk and taking one 180mg  fexofenadine hydrochloride tablet daily, eased off total nose blockage allows me to breathe, but lots of mucus comes out of my noses before clearing up.

The following day the same problem repeatedly.

Introduction

My name is Tim and I had a Medtronic pacemaker inserted on February 20 for Congenital Progressive Heart Block. My mom has it and her mom had it. I have known since I had a heart block since I was 24 years old and am now 57. My cardiologist said I should ride my bicycle "as much as possible ". Fitness Watch HR below lower Tracking Rate Setting

I know that fitness watches are not the most reliable monitors for HR, but I have to ask.  

Since getting my PM two months ago, my Polar watch (which has optical HR tracking and is worn on my non-dominant wrist - left for me), has never gone below 60 which is where my lower tracking rate is set.  Makes sense.  However, these last 10 days or so, I'm seeing repeated HR's in the low 50's on my watch. Aveir LPM implant two days ago

60M. Happy to have found this community. After months of dealing with chronotropic incompetence secondary to an ablation for afib, I had a pacemaker implanted yesterday morning (Aveir Leadless, Atrial). Other than my SA Node, which still produces a p-wave but stalls at around 120bpm, my conduction system is intact (multiple 12-lead ECGs are normal), so single chamber atrial pacing with rate response was recommended and was the approach taken.

June's remote quarterly transmission

I knew  my quartely remote tranmission was coming up , was not sure if it would be done before i left for a 10 day vacation.  Thank goodness it was done before.  I had notified my cardiologist  via the patient portal of my away dates.  Who then notified the pacemaker clinic.  When i returned did call the pacemaker clinic to ask for a copy of the log events and the summary page.  Not aware that the clinic is closed on Fridays.  She then called me on...

Recent change in heart rate after extended period with bradycardia

Early in 2023 my resting heart rate abruptly dropped to about 40 bpm (often falling to the mid/upper 30s overnight and sometimes during the day).  I’m currently 63, and for most of my adult life, I’ve had a resting rate in the low to mid 50s, as I’ve been a runner and cyclist since my teen years.

PLSVC - Incidental-oma

During the placement of my PM about 2 months ago, one of the "complications" that they ran into is that apparently I have what is callled a redudant or Persistant Left Superior Vena Cava.  This was one of the main reasons that they were unable to successfully manipulate the leads for CRT device into place and instead went with Plan B of the CAP device that I have (and I'm very happy with -so far).  The EP mentioned it briefly in his brief mtg w/ my famil...

Our current computer system doesn’t automatically bump new comments to the top of the new message board, so any comments you leave in older posts or even add to posts that are more than say a month old, may not be seen, unless you create a new message.  Furthermore, we are still not receiving “notification” of comments or of private messages...

Pacemaker home monitor

I have had a pacemaker for 13 years. The first one was 10 years and now my second one is 3 years. I have a StJude with Merlin home remote. It is still working on a landline which costs me $60 a month. They once before, about 5 years ago sent me the equipment to make it WiFi. It didn't work with our Wi-Fi for some reason so I just stayed with the landline

Paced percentages

Curious ...

what's the percentage of pacing for your artrial and ventricle?

 

my atrial is 100% paced 

ventricle 70% paced

 

i read that ventricle pacing over 40% increases your chance of heart failure... anyone have info on this?

for people that are 100% atrial and ventricle paced do they rely solely on rate response to help tell there heart how fast to beat?

New pacemaker in 9 year old

Just wanted to put a little post on, my daughter, 9 years old, has just got her first pacemaker last week. The difference in her is incredible!
