Like Gemita, I live in the southeast of England about 7 miles from the English Channel.
It's busy and can be hot and dry. We have the beautiful South Downs, now a National Park. Solid chalk, hundreds of feet thick and a few inches of topsoil.
If you manage to grow anything, there are millions of chalk loving snails to make a meal of it.
I walk regularly and yesterday went to see how the wild plums were doing.
Many orchids in flower and I rescued two large caterpillars walking towards certain deaths on the busy road. They were Emperor Hawk moth caterpillars about 2.5 inches long.

Oh Piglet, thank you for making a common subject so interesting. I hope Suzzy and others get a feel for the delights awaiting them should they ever visit your area!
The snail trails around my garden have never been more visible than this summer. With our clay soil we are usually baked dry by July, but absolutely no chance of this, this year.
Suzzy, Kent is known as the garden of England. My garden used to be beautiful too, but it has become wild in recent years, so lots of wildlife around, including foxes. We have many beautiful orchards (cherry/apple) and hop gardens nearby. Lots of local produce around and we have often gone strawberry picking at neighbouring farms. Nothing tastes as good as fresh vine ripened, fruits.

I am from Massachusetts however I have lived in California now for almost 16 years! Such a besutiful state. I have lived in Southern Ca (San Diego area) but enjoy Norhtern Ca more where I am now.
i live in a very small town named La Honda. Its in the Santa Cruz mountains where i am surrounded by big beautiful redwoods. Yet I am only a 15 minute drive to the coast (route 1) ; which is epic to see if you ever get a chance to visit!
I hope to visit Canada one day. My mom Lived there once (a long time ago) and said how clean it was... I believe she said there was a day where people would go out and clean the streets weekly maybe? For this sound made up?
cheers,
Amy

I have a fox and sometimes two that come and sunbathe in the back garden.
I think it's a safe refuge for them.
They have to mind their manners as they can be very destructive.
If they keep the rats and mice down that's OK, but touch the slowworms at your peril
The garden is quite hard work now.
Midwesterner here...

Been to Edmonton and Calgary. I see the Stampede has folded its tent for another year.
Was stationed in Cold Lake for 1 1/2 years in the 1950's.
Went house boating in Salmon Arm BC for a couple of weeks a number of years ago. Mountains are truly beautiful.

Just back from Canada- 2 weeks chasing wildlife in British Columbia. I found your country folk to be so friendly. Crazy about ice-hockey! Enjoy your 'short' 'summer'. It snowed in Banff.
Such a big country. One wonders what the health care is like if you are out of town.

Summer is typically hot and humid here, but this year we are having extreme heat and drought.
I love how this site reaches people from all over the planet, Earth. It makes me remember that that, thinking globally, we are all from HERE.

I am from Aberdeen Scotland. It used to be known as the 'Oil capital of Europe' due to the amount of oil firms and oil exploration in the North Sea.
We have a beautiful miles long Sandy beach but we have been having a cold summer so far- unfortunately !
If you drive a few miles out of Aberdeen you are in Royal Deeside - with many castles en route!

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.

Hubby and I both have pacemakers (implanted in 2018) and live in Kent, UK. We have visited your beautiful country. I see you are a long standing member, so hope you are still doing well?
