sending a PM and not getting an answer, or answer a query and not get a response

I sent a PM  to "admin"  "private message" and did not get a reponse.  About what is not happening on this site with the new owners.  Do not know  about you but to me that is quite rude.  Of course we deal most of the time with those who ponder their needs and when we respond they do not.

Do not know which is worse.

Other Reasons?

Re: Admin - Some queries have to be researched and looked into of course if they're complicated or involve other accounts.  If you've been waiting a while could you ask a Moderator to intervene?

Re: PMs - At this time of year, it's always possible that the person you're contacting may be on vacation.  Perhaps wait a little longer and then send a polite reminder.  I'd give up after that!

New to pace,

Even if the original poster doesn't respond when you reply to their post, your response is not wasted. Many many people read it. People who aren't even members read posts and responses. For example, there were 152 views to your last response to a post!
Don't be discouraged!

Would be great..

If posts that were responded to would move back to the top. There are tons of posts that have just died, some of them unanswered. JMO

Rudeness

NTP

I'm afraid it's the way of the world.

The days of hand crafted replies and simple good manners have long gone.

Probably, about 50% of emails correspondence doesn't get answered by organisations or take a lot of prodding.

What does work smoothly every time is the handing over of money for goods or services.

As for unanswered posts or comments, there's not much you can do about it.

Possibly note it and don't bother with them next time.

Something prompted them to get this far in the first place then the interest wanes.

Perhaps there's more the administration could do to prompt a reply.

If all else fails, particularly with large organisations, is to go public.

There's nothing like a stinging review on one of the review sites to get their attention.

Please send your message to me and I will get it to the site owners.

A lot is going on behind the scenes! I mean, a LOT. Bringing the site up to date is a massive undertaking and they are being very thoughtful and thorough about it. This means it may take a bit longer, but the end product will be that much better. They regularly speak to both me and Gemita for input and updates. It may seem like they are not responsive, but I assure you that is not at all the case. They are overwhelmed and doing their best.

Comments getting buried is one of the things that will be fixed on the new site.

The data on this site is unbelievably massive, and the software is a dinosaur. Converting it is not an easy task. It was too much for the previous owner to do on his own, which is a lot of the reason why he sold.

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Please continue to have patience. If you have a concern, please feel free to reach out to either me or Gemita. Please note, Gemita is away at the moment.

Piglet, "going public" and stinging reviews is not the answer. We are all adults, and this site is a free resource. Even in its current flawed state, it's an invaluable source of information and support. Why would you even consider attacking that?

responding to Pm

I do not need youTracey_E to repond to my concern.  I was on the site at the same time that under "who is on line" was "admin" so i thought i would write to whomever that person is.  If they are going to online an someone writes to that person , would hope at least a short response would be sent.  They could say the samething that you both say to us "patience is needed".

roles

by Tracey_E - 2024-07-09 13:03:40

The new admins are not taking an active role in the forum at this time. They've delegated that to me and Gemita. Their role is to deal with the technological and marketing challenges. Until some of that is ready to launch, life goes on here much as it always has.

thank you for explaining

Tracey_E thanks for letting us know, life goes on  as it has been doing on this site.  Hope  my mind stay active enough to see the improvements.
