Has anyone ever had a cath test? The Doctor said I am heathy so he knows that my heart will look ok, but he would like to know what it looks like inside. I have no reason for rythmatic problems( I am very heathy and only 30). So he would like to see if maybe I have scaring in my heart...or a reason for my heart problem. But I am scared to have this done. I will take any information that anyone has...the risk or maybe any good news about it:) Thank you

Battery Change

My son is 3 years old and has had a pacemaker since birth. My son has congenitive heart block. He has to get new batteries within 6 months or less. I am not sure what to expect. Will this be hard on him? Am I worring over nothing?

I know when they put his pacemaker in he had a hard time recovering and got infections, was sadated for 3 days. Also, my sons pacer does all of his work for him and this is why he needs to have the batteries replaced in only 3 years time.

My Mother-in-law

My mother-in-law has a pace/defib since 2005, she is in her late 70's and her health is failing. It is like her body is dying but her heart is still strong! Is the pac/defib designed to keep her heart beating even if the rest of her body is withering away?

posr op discomfort

This is my first post as I only a month ago became a member of this elite group of people. Any thoughts on the possibility that the pm was placed in the wrong location, to close to the arm pit and in that muscle. A month later, I feel like the pm is resting in my arm pit, at least next to it. I can't cross my left arm across my chest. It is even uncomfortable to type on the computer in certain positions, need to be positioned toward the left. Everytime I use that muscle I feel it. Wearing a...

NEED YOUR EXPERTISE

Hello,

I've been feeling better with the blood pressure medicine. However I have this tightening of my chest. It comes and goes and it's at the top of my chest right in the center. My neck and shoulder are so tense. My blood pressure is reading 120/80 and I've breathing okay. Can this be a sign for heart blockage and what should I do if it continues to get worse. I called my Doctor's office and he said it sounds like anxiety. Is there anyone who can write to me about this m...

This message is for Tammy about low blood pressure. My blood pressure is normally low 90/60 normal for me , but in the evening my pressure will drop to 60/48 or lower. They have no idea why?? and yes I do faint. I have started to go to bed as soon as the feeling comes on and I will usually sleep a couple of hours and feel better and my pressure will be back up. This started with my pacemaker and has continued since i received it in 2006.I am still working and continuing along with my life as...

holding me back!

I'm a female soldier in the Australian Army, and I love it. The problem I have is in July of last year I collapsed and after exhaustive tests, was found to have Mobitz2, with possible Mobitz3, and bradychardia, which the specialists believed led to my collapses and which could be fixed with a pacemaker. September it went in(deep under my muscle) and I haven't had an incident since. I train just as hard, if not harder, than ever. I have never failed a fitness test, infact I am told I give the youn...

Blood Pressure!

Lately I have been feeling weak. I was really hoping that getting the pacemaker placed in would makes things get better but it doesn't seem that things work that way it sure does take a process. I called in last week b/c my left hand was completely numb and I had so much chest discomfort and was also dizzy. They got me in and said my b/p was low and I was dehydrated. They said that the hand was going numb because of my voltage being high and that they wouldn't lower in until 6 weeks. It is set a...

How long does it take

Hi everyone~ I have posted before but now am under a different name due to the changes on the site. I'm wondering-how long does it take to feel better? Had my 1st PM put in on 12/28/06 and felt very tired to begin with and have been feeling more energenic but at times still get very tired. All my PM checks have been good so I don't think there is a problem there. Am I just hoping to recover faster than what it really takes. Can finally walk on the treadmill 20 minutes at a slow pace but sti...

swelling in left arm

Hi y'all,
Has anyone ever had swelling and numbness down the left arm? This feels a lot like when I had the superior vena cava blockage, but this is only my left arm. Also, my pacemaker pocket has been opened 3 times in the last 5 years, and now where there used to be a bulge and I could feel the outline of the pacer, there is now a large indentation where the pacemaker used to be and the pacemaker can be felt way over to the side. Can it move? Thanks for any thoughts. Bambi

Hashimoto's Disease & PM

$6Mman asked about Hashimoto's & problems with lab tests.I was unable to post until now because I wasn't recognized, but I have a comment. If you have Hash, it is not good enough to rely upon the TSH value when determining exogenous levothyroid.Hash is a condition in which the body itself destroys the circulating levothyroid. Therefore, the appropriate blood tests should focus on the amount of thyroid hormone actually circulating in the blood. To do this, you must be tested for Free T3 and Free...

WE MUST ALL GIVE A WORD

I'm writing to each and everyone of you out there. I'm feeling a bit upset that I can't answer all the problems on this site. I know that I'm not supposed to give answers to everyone. That's why we all have to pitch in and give a cheer or wipe away someone's tear. We are here to help one another and I see so many people will read postings but they won't respond. I know that we all don't have the same conditions or maybe we haven't experience certain problems. With so many people on this si...

Weird Question...

I'm looking at possibly having my pacemaker replaced in the near future (or whenever the battery dies) and mine is pretty old, so its bigger than the ones are now. My question is, won't the pocket be too big?? Is it going to look funny?? And what if I decide not to get one put back in at all (this may be an option for me) will it leave a large indent?? I had my PM put in when I was 11, so the muscle grew around, its flat , doesn't stick out at all. Thanks for any info!! -Patti
