Pacemaker cardiomyopathy

Is 80 beats per min to fast a pace?
can it cause pacemcker syndrome?
My dual pacemaker has only been paced in single mode
It is a state of the art pacemaker, but only activated in VVIR,VVI
or worse VOO, & not set capture histogams
It is a sympony DR 2550 can all its fucntions be turen on & slowed down to 60/70 to reduce the cardiomopathy damage?

Bill

Had a pacemaker installed Feb10, 2012. Since being released from the hospital on Feb 12, 2012 I’ve had a fever of 104 Feb 20 which went to normal by evening and another fever of 104 Feb 27 one week later. Today Feb 29 I woke up with 102. Each time I have had the fever, I had the chills and sweats, but by the end of the day everything goes back to normal, I advised the surgeon of my situation and his response was "theres a bug going around." My incision sight looks good, no s...

How often should my husband be getting zapped?

My collapsed at home about a month ago. I was here to give him CPR. His diagnosis was "aborted sudden cardiac death". They implanted a defib/pacemaker. It has been 2 weeks since the surgery. He got zapped a week ago and they put him on 3 medications. Then he got zapped last night and they doubled his meds and added another one plus nitro as needed. Is this normal? He is quite frustrated because he can't drive, can't hike, can't go to the gym, can't really do much of anything because he k...

Also, when he lays down, he has pain in his neck on opposite side of pacemaker? We are calling the Dr tomorrow, but was wondering if I should take him to the ER today?? Has anyone had this problem? Is this serious, should we go to hospital! Thank you...Lisa

3 weeks post op update

So I spoke to my Cardiologist today. I had been getting weird extra beats and flutters since the op. So bad that I had to go back and get another 24 HR tape to see what was going on.

The result?? What I was feeling was the feeling of being paced apparently. Well that sucks!!
The thing is tho, for the first few days I was getting them pretty regular but over the past week or so a lot less and less. I am pretty in touch with my body these days and it is not the case that I am jus...

Water retention

Hi, its me again, I had posted about weight gain. I do believe the weight gain is due to water retention. I have gained 10 pounds in 3 months and I now am seeing at least a one half to 1 inch indentation where my sock elastic is. I cannot remove my rings.. My GP said to wear compression stockings!!! Like thats going to help with my hands and abdomen is also expanding, I have noticed more of a problem with constipation, but this water retention scares me. I've afraid of heart failure, I have n...

Breathing ruined after PM regulated

My dad had a PM many years ago. After the surgery he felt better than he had in years. He was so full of energy and excited about all the things he would be able to do now that he felt better. Unfortunately this enthusiasm was short lived. Just after his first programming at his doctor's office, his breathing was completely ruined! He immediately felt awful and complained to the tech regulating the device. The tech looked stunned and said,"Oh I had it down too long, sorry". He then insured...

Unusual Symptoms After ICD Insertion

I have had a ICD inserted in late November of 2012 and have experienced transient and variable degrees of internal uncomfortable feelings in the area of my heart that have manifested into pains in my chest, neck, back, throat, and head. Breathing, laying down on my back or sides, or sitting in a chair with pressure on my back have at times been painful. If I bend over or lift anything of a weight of more than 10 pounds I feel it in my chest and it radiates to my through and elsewhere depending o...

Feels like 9volt Battery

Pacer/Defib Jan 07 and I have complained about an electrical feeling in my mouth from the first minute when my eyes opened post-op. It's similar to the electrical feeling when you put a 9v battery to your tongue to see if it still has juice, but there are moments when it's REALLY strong... It is so consistant that I live with my teeth clenched and have broken 2 teeth from the involuntary "super-clenching" when it surges the strongest. If I lay on my left side and my unit moves, or if I acciden...

Pacemaker complications

I am new to the forum. I am 37 year old female who had a single chamber insert in December 2011 for bradycardia. HR was in the 30-40s. I was also dx with POTS in June 2011. My PM is set at 60. For about 4 wks after the insert I had a tremendous improvement in my energy level. Before I was always very weak, fatigued, and lightedheaded. However, just a couple of weeks ago, the fatigue and weakness is starting to set in again. I can feel my heart pounding up thru my chest and throat, having...

Feels like pacemaker has moved

I had my second PM placed with two leads on Jan. 13, 2012. The incision has closed and is healing. I just vomited after dinner, and now my PM feels like it has moved up. I used to feel like the majority of the it was below the incision, now it mostly above the incision. Has anyone experienced their PM moving. My PM is a biotronic, and my old one was a medtronic.

My first PM that I had for a year did not move a lot, but it was smaller. Has anyone had this experience. Should I ca...

I'm 21 with my 2nd pacemaker

I've have my pacemaker since 2001 it's been almost 11years. I haven't been able to go to the doctor and get a check up for a new pacemaker because I have no insurance nor the money for the cost. My heart has been fluttering more than usual and I get light headed. Is this normal since the battery might be running out or could it be something else wrong with me?

Will I ever be OK

I am new to this forum, and I am so glad that I found it. This is long, but a lot has happened in the past 10 years and I feel I will never get my life back.

I was diagnosed with POTS over 10 years ago, 3 years ago I finally saw an EP cardiologist and was diagnosed with Inapporpriate Sinus Tachacardia. I am 44, and I have had multiple episodes of passing out. I am always dizzy and tired. My heart rate stays between 100 and 120 just sitting at my desk at work. My heart is always...

Furnaces

On December 28th of 2011 I had a PM put in due to Bradycardia, Heart Block. Since then I have bee learning how to live with the PM. Recently I have noticed (in multiple houses) when the furnace starts blowing warm air that I feel a tightness in my chest. I feel that tightness in my chest around other electrical items also, but none of them are warned against in the brochure. Is my PM too sensitive? Can that be adjusted? Or do we feel electric items around us and have to move away and find...

Sress

I received my pacemaker April 10, 2006 and have had problems before, after and present. I was informed I had received a pacemaker in the series of a recall. So I had a bad start. I have had trouble with medicine feeling over medicated. Leading to the start of series of doctors, tests and feeling like a zombie. The medicine I was taking was recalled for being double strength, according to the lot # and my complications started. My doctors, so many, all had their own style of treating the prob...
