Is 80 beats per min to fast a pace?
can it cause pacemcker syndrome?
My dual pacemaker has only been paced in single mode
It is a state of the art pacemaker, but only activated in VVIR,VVI
or worse VOO, & not set capture histogams
It is a sympony DR 2550 can all its fucntions be turen on & slowed down to 60/70 to reduce the cardiomopathy damage?
Thans Alfredo

Hi Inga
Thank you for your reply
In 2007 I had Ablate & Pace for Atrial Fibrillation
2009 AF began to return
2012 X Ray shows Dual leads implanted
& ECG shows VVIR mode & AF
New Cardio at new Hospital said said my Echocardiogram
shows I have Pacemaker induced Cardiomyopathy
Please can you direct me to a web site that explains this.
Thanks Alfredo

Pacemaker syndrome

Hi Alfredo,
pacemaker syndrome is a very well known problem in VVI pacing. In many cases, it can be resolved quickly by changing the mode to DDD pacing, if you've got a dual-chamber pacer. I'm wondering, if you only have a ventricular pacer lead since your pacer is programmed in those ventricular pacing modes. Not sure about your heart rate. But I always thought that patients with cardiomyopathy benefit from a rather low heart rate, so I'd guess 60-70bpm might be better than 80. But you've got to talk to your cardio about this. He might have had a good reason for programming a base rate of 80bpm.
Best wishes
Inga
